Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Planner to join our team! In this role you will get to ensure that large-scale projects are planned, scheduled, and executed effectively, particularly within the context of airport infrastructure or construction projects. The role requires a seasoned planner with experience in managing complex schedules, allocating resources efficiently, and mitigating risks to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to collaborate across teams to deliver successful project outcomes.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Project Planning & Scheduling:

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring alignment with project goals, deadlines, and milestones.

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to establish project timelines, resource requirements, and critical paths.

• Ensure that all planning activities are completed on time, within budget, and according to the scope of work.

• Utilize project management and planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) to create and update schedules, track progress, and forecast project outcomes.

Resource Allocation & Optimization:

• Work with the project management team to allocate resources efficiently, ensuring that all necessary materials, labor, and equipment are available when needed.

• Monitor resource usage and optimize allocation to prevent delays and avoid resource bottlenecks.

• Propose adjustments in resource allocation or project schedules when delays or obstacles arise, ensuring minimal disruption to the project.

Risk Management & Mitigation:

• Identify potential risks that may affect project schedules and propose risk mitigation strategies.

• Proactively monitor and evaluate project progress, identifying any schedule deviations and implementing corrective actions to get the project back on track.

• Develop contingency plans to address unforeseen project delays, such as changes in scope, adverse weather conditions, or supply chain disruptions.

Stakeholder Communication & Reporting:

• Provide regular project status updates to senior management, clients, and stakeholders, highlighting progress, risks, and key milestones.

• Prepare and present project schedule reports, including timelines, milestones, and any necessary changes or updates.

• Ensure clear and effective communication between project teams and stakeholders to keep everyone aligned with the project’s goals and timelines.

Performance Monitoring & Documentation:

• Track project milestones and deliverables, ensuring that all critical tasks are completed according to the planned schedule.

• Maintain accurate records of all planning-related activities, including changes to schedules, resource allocation, and performance reports.

• Conduct post-project analysis to identify lessons learned and improve future planning processes.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:

• Ensure that all planning activities adhere to relevant regulations, industry standards, and safety protocols.

• Monitor compliance with project specifications, budget constraints, and quality standards throughout the planning process.

• Coordinate with quality assurance teams to ensure that project plans meet the required quality benchmarks.

Continuous Improvement:

• Stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in project planning and scheduling.

• Continuously improve planning processes and tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall project delivery.

• Participate in industry seminars, workshops, or certifications to further develop skills and knowledge in project planning.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, APM or similar) are highly desirable.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in project planning or scheduling, particularly within the construction, airport infrastructure, or large-scale civil engineering projects.

  • Proven experience with planning software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar tools.

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, construction processes, and planning best practices.

• Skills & Knowledge:

  • Expertise in developing and managing detailed project schedules, resource allocation, and risk management.

  • Advanced proficiency in scheduling software and tools, including generating reports, analyzing schedules, and forecasting project timelines.

  • Ability to identify project risks early and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage relationships with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

• Certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), APM (Association for Project Management), or similar project management qualifications.

• Experience with airport construction projects or other infrastructure planning.

• Familiarity with cost management or budgeting processes in large-scale projects.

• Knowledge of Lean Construction or Agile project management techniques.

• Ability to drive change and foster continuous improvement in planning processes.
