Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Planner to join our team! In this role you will get to the development, management, and maintenance of project schedules, ensuring that all activities are completed within the planned timeframes and resources are effectively utilized.
The role requires strong organizational skills, a deep understanding of project scheduling software, and the ability to collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a background in infrastructure planning, particularly within the airport or construction sectors, and will be a key player in ensuring that projects are completed on time and within scope.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Project Planning & Scheduling:
Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules, ensuring alignment with the overall project goals and timelines.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or bottlenecks, and propose corrective actions to keep the project on track.
Utilize planning tools and software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) to manage schedules and timelines.
Resource Coordination & Management:
Work with project managers to allocate resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, ensuring that resources are utilized efficiently.
Track resource usage and optimize allocation to minimize delays and avoid over-allocation.
Provide input into procurement planning to ensure resources are available when needed and project timelines are met.
Progress Monitoring & Reporting:
Track project milestones and progress, providing regular status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
Prepare and present detailed progress reports, highlighting any schedule changes, delays, or potential risks to project timelines.
Work with the project team to assess and adjust the schedule based on changes in scope, design, or unforeseen events.
Risk Identification & Mitigation:
Proactively identify potential risks to the project schedule and propose solutions to mitigate delays or cost overruns.
Conduct regular reviews of project schedules to assess potential schedule conflicts and adjust resources and timelines as necessary.
Develop contingency plans to ensure project objectives can still be met in the event of unforeseen challenges.
Stakeholder Communication:
Maintain effective communication with all project stakeholders, ensuring that they are kept informed of progress, changes, and issues.
Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination and alignment with project schedules.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure that planning efforts are aligned with overall project goals.
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure all planning activities comply with relevant regulations, safety standards, and organizational policies.
Maintain detailed and accurate records of planning documentation, including schedules, reports, and correspondence.
Ensure that any changes to the project plan are documented and approved by relevant parties.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, tools, and best practices in project planning and scheduling.
Identify opportunities to improve planning processes and workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Continuously improve your own skills through training, certification, and attending industry events.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field. Additional certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, Prince2) are a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project planning or scheduling, with a focus on infrastructure projects (airport experience is an advantage).
Proven experience in the use of project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
Strong understanding of project life cycles and the ability to manage complex project schedules.
Skills & Knowledge:
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to anticipate project delays and suggest mitigation strategies.
Familiarity with risk management techniques and the ability to assess project risks.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with stakeholders and providing progress updates.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and planning software.
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
Certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), Prince2, or similar project management qualifications.
Experience working on airport infrastructure projects or large-scale construction projects.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in project planning, particularly for construction sites.
Familiarity with budgeting and cost management in a project planning context.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
