Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Planner to join our team! In this role you will get to the successful planning, scheduling, and coordination of large-scale projects, particularly in the airport infrastructure sector. The role requires an individual with significant planning experience, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record of managing complex schedules while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. This position will be key to ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Project Planning & Scheduling:

  • Develop, update, and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring alignment with the overall project plan and timeline.

  • Work with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.

  • Identify potential scheduling conflicts and risks, proposing solutions to mitigate delays and ensure project milestones are met.

  • Utilize planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) to create and manage schedules and timelines.

Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure coordination and communication of project requirements and changes.

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure that planning activities are aligned with project needs.

  • Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to review project progress, address issues, and align on any necessary changes to plans or schedules.

Resource Allocation & Optimization:

  • Work with project managers to ensure that resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, are efficiently allocated and managed.

  • Monitor resource utilization and recommend adjustments to optimize productivity and minimize waste.

  • Assess project needs and provide input into the procurement of necessary resources, ensuring they are available when required.

Risk Management & Problem-Solving:

  • Identify potential risks or delays in project schedules and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.

  • Proactively address any project-related issues or bottlenecks, proposing corrective actions to keep the project on track.

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure that contingency plans are in place to handle unexpected events or challenges.

Progress Tracking & Reporting:

  • Monitor project progress, ensuring that all activities are being completed as scheduled and within budget.

  • Provide regular progress reports to senior management, outlining milestones achieved, potential risks, and any changes in scope or schedule.

  • Analyze and interpret data to provide insights into project performance and recommend improvements.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all project planning activities comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies.

  • Work with quality control teams to ensure that all work is completed to required specifications and meets quality standards.

  • Ensure that necessary permits, approvals, and inspections are obtained for all phases of the project.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the planning and scheduling functions.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new planning tools or software to enhance project planning processes.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Urban Planning, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, AACE) are preferred.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in planning, with at least 3-5 years in a senior or leadership role within large-scale infrastructure projects (airport-related experience is a plus).

    • Proven experience in developing and managing project schedules, coordinating teams, and working with multiple stakeholders.

    • Experience with project management tools and planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar).

  • Skills & Knowledge:

    • Strong knowledge of project planning and scheduling principles, construction processes, and risk management.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

    • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve scheduling conflicts and identify efficient solutions.

    • Detail-oriented, with a strong ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and project management software.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering).

  • Experience with airport infrastructure projects, such as terminal construction, runway development, or airside operations.

  • Familiarity with industry-specific standards, safety regulations, and environmental considerations related to large-scale infrastructure projects.

  • Ability to manage project budgets and forecast resource needs effectively.
