Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an experienced and talented Senior Transportation/ITS Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will get to work closely with some of the nation’s leading engineers, IT specialists, systems engineers, and software programmers to develop state-of-the-art technology-based transportation solutions.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Helps plan, design, test, deploy, and manage ITS solutions for Advanced Transportation Management Systems (ATMS), tolling systems, signal systems, ramp meters, and other road & highway monitoring systems.
- Conduct stakeholder workshops, conduct requirements reviews, generate designs, specifications, concept of operations, test procedures, and manuals.
- Bring in new work to Parsons by seeking and finding grant opportunities, leading and preparing grant applications, and supporting proposal writing efforts
- Manage the projects and lead the team of engineers
- Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes, utilizing CAD as applicable.
- Prepares standard engineering computations, material quality takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
- Prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
- Reviews small and portions of larger supplier drawing submittals and assists in performing technical bid analyses.
- Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and other Engineers working on the same project.
- Performs traffic and transportation analysis and develops solutions and plans to implement those solutions in coordination with other engineers and technology specialists
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering (or related field) and 10+ years of related work experience. Masters degree and 8+ years of experience, or Ph.D and 5+ years of experience
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
- Understanding of transportation engineering practices and principles
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate transportation and traffic issues and develop potential solutions to address these issues
- Strong computer skills including Vissim, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, MicroStation, Highway Capacity Software ArcGIS
- Ability to evaluate, and analyse transportation issues, and develop recommendations and reports to support your evaluation
- Experience collaborating with national technical committees and volunteer organizations
