Safety Manager – Tunnels
Opportunity :
Parsons is now hiring for an experienced Safety Manager to support and provide oversight on the Cemetery Brook Drainage Tunnel project in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Overview :
Will perform as the Safety (EHS) professional as the Site EHS Officer. Additional site EHS personnel may be necessary for
effective project management. One person will be identified as the EHS Officer of Record, responsible for
managing and coordinating the EHS requirements and will report to the Program Manager. The EHS Officer. In this role you will be required to be on-site at the client field office whenever construction is being performed and will be responsible to assure the contractor is adhering to their safety plan and implementing safe practices as required to perform the workin a safe manner. When work is starting or nearing completion, the PM or RE may act as the Site EHS Officer with concurrence from the Owner.
Duties:
- Inspect contractor's work for adherence to safety protocols.
- Inspect workers for proper PPE in the field.
- Manage PPE and safety training for management staff as needed.
- Review and approve submittals/job hazard analysis/safety plans
- Write/develop the Program Management Environmental Health and Safety plan
- Daily site inspections for worker/public/staff safety
- Emergency response coordination (as needed)
- Interface with Owner (City of Manchester) first responders during an emergency event
- OSHA compliance for the site

Skills and Competencies
- Extensive knowledge of domestic and international safety standards for assigned region
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written skills
- Ability to train all levels of the organization in key company safety training programs
- Ability to supervise and manage safety professionals located throughout the organization domestically and internationally
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is preferred
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field (or equivalent experience) and typically 10 years or more of related work experience in the field of Health and Safety, including some supervisory experience. Professional certification preferred.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Requires extensive knowledge of Federal and state health and safety regulations and reporting procedures, as well as strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to perform in a supervisory/managerial capacity is also required.
