Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Temporary Works Manager (Logistics) to join our team! In this role you will get to the design, coordination, and management of temporary works systems, ensuring their effective integration into logistics operations. This role requires a deep technical understanding of temporary works, a focus on safety and risk management, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. The successful candidate will help streamline operations, enhance safety, and ensure that temporary works are executed on time and within budget.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Temporary Works Planning and Design:
Develop and plan temporary works systems, including scaffolding, formwork, and shoring, to support logistics operations.
Work with the engineering team to design and implement the most efficient and cost-effective temporary works solutions.
Ensure all temporary works meet regulatory and safety requirements.
Coordination and Site Management:
Coordinate with the project and logistics teams to ensure the smooth integration of temporary works into logistics operations.
Oversee the installation, maintenance, and removal of temporary works structures, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations.
Manage site activities, ensuring that temporary works are installed on schedule and within budget.
Safety and Risk Management:
Ensure the health and safety of all personnel involved in temporary works activities, adhering to site-specific safety standards and industry regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to mitigate risks associated with temporary works.
Oversee the inspection and monitoring of temporary works to ensure safety compliance throughout the duration of their use.
Project Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive records of all temporary works designs, installations, and changes.
Provide regular progress updates to senior management, including reports on temporary works performance and any challenges encountered.
Ensure that all relevant documentation is completed and submitted in accordance with project timelines.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
Develop and manage budgets for temporary works, ensuring that costs remain within established limits.
Monitor expenses related to temporary works and recommend adjustments where necessary to avoid cost overruns.
Provide input to procurement and logistics teams to secure necessary materials and resources at the best value.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Communication:
Work closely with internal teams (logistics, construction, engineering) and external contractors to ensure seamless execution of temporary works.
Facilitate communication between various stakeholders regarding the temporary works and logistics operations.
Liaise with external suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of required materials and equipment.
Quality Assurance:
Implement a robust quality control system to ensure the integrity and functionality of temporary works.
Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
Address any issues with temporary works and ensure that corrective actions are taken promptly.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Education:
A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. Certifications in Temporary Works or Health and Safety (e.g., SMSTS, SSSTS, IOSH) are a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in temporary works management, preferably within logistics or construction-related projects.
Proven experience in managing temporary works systems, such as scaffolding, shoring, and formwork.
Strong understanding of logistics operations and temporary works’ role within them.
Skills & Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of temporary works systems and their design, installation, and maintenance.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.
Proficient in using software such as AutoCAD, MS Project, or similar tools for design and project management.
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
Professional certifications in Temporary Works Management or Health and Safety (e.g., SMSTS).
Experience with large-scale logistics and construction projects.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
