Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Site Safety and Health Technician to join our team!
*** The SSHO must be willing to deploy on long-term assignment to Kwajalein Island, Marshall Islands. This position is not a remote support opportunity.
What You'll Be Doing:
Working closely with project superintendent, project manager and other trades, to oversee the assigned scope, including the management of material and manpower.
Accountable for enforcing and promoting high quality and safety standards, including all life safety matters.
Utilize technology such as company-provided iPad to ensure the job gets done on time, adheres to the blueprints and specifications, and exceeds customer expectations.
Implement and enforce site-specific Accident Prevention Plans (APPs) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), ensuring compliance with both company policies and USACE EM 385-1-1 requirements.
Skills and Qualifications:
Relevant experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction industry safety or general industry safety, with experience supervising or managing safety programs, conducting hazard analyses, and developing controls.
OSHA 30-hour training: Completion of the OSHA 30-hour Construction or General Industry safety class, or equivalent formal training.
EM 385-1-1 training: While not always a strict requirement, many employers require 40-hour EM 385-1-1 training.
Continuing education: 8 hours of documented safety training annually.
Knowledge of safety regulations: Strong understanding of OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and relevant local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders and lead safety training sessions.
Problem-solving and analytical skills: Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and develop effective solutions.
Physical stamina: The job often requires working in various environments and potentially physically demanding tasks.
Education, Training, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:
College graduate associate degree in electronics, electrical engineering preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 3+ years of experience in skilled supervisor is required (5+ years preferred).
OSHA Safety 30-Hour Certification or able to obtain.
40-hour EM 385-1-1 Training (Common Employer Requirement): You will be required to complete a 40-hour EM 385 course to be considered a qualified SSHO. This training focuses on the specific safety and health requirements outlined in the EM 385-1-1 manual.
Physical Requirements:
Physically we must be able to lift 40 pounds to an overhead position.
Must be able to push and pull up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Able to work dayshift or nightshift.
Exposure to working outdoors in all-weather condition.
Ability to Relocate: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
Must wear appropriate PPE when performing tasks.
Wear long pants, shirt that covers the shoulders by six (6) inches, and steel toe work boots, including prescription safety glasses. These are not provided by Parsons.
Ability to speak and read English.
