Parsons is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Project Manager specializing in Transportation Engineering and Traffic Operations to lead and manage complex transportation projects. In this role, you will oversee the planning, design, and implementation of transportation systems, ensuring the successful delivery of projects that enhance mobility, safety, and efficiency. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engage with clients and stakeholders, and contribute to the growth of our transportation practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage large-scale transportation engineering and traffic operations projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Develop and implement project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, risk management, and resource allocation.
  • Provide technical expertise in transportation engineering, traffic operations, traffic modeling, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS).
  • Oversee the preparation of engineering designs, plans, specifications, and reports for transportation infrastructure projects, including roadways, intersections, traffic signals, and multimodal facilities.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to ensure project objectives align with their needs and comply with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Mentor and guide project teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews of project deliverables to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including preparing proposals, presentations, and cost estimates to secure new projects.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in transportation engineering and traffic operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license may be required.
  • Minimum of 12-15 years of experience in transportation engineering and traffic operations, with a proven track record of managing complex projects.
  • Expertise in traffic analysis and modeling software such as Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, MUTCD, AASHTO, and other relevant standards and guidelines.
  • Experience with intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and emerging technologies in transportation is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop junior staff members.
  • Strong business development acumen, including proposal writing and client engagement.

Salary Range: $144,800.00 - $260,600.00
