Senior Public Realm Landscape Architect – Highway & Road Corridor Support
Abu Dhabi, UAE
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Public Realm Landscape Architect – Highway & Road Corridor Support to join our team! In this role you will get to lead the planning, design and execution of landscape projects across public realm projects.
What You'll Be Doing:
Leading the design, development, and technical delivery of landscape and public realm projects from concept through to construction.
Preparing and reviewing detailed landscape drawings, including hardscape, softscape, irrigation, grading, and planting plans.
Coordinating closely with architects, civil engineers, urban planners, and environmental specialists to integrate landscape designs seamlessly into overall project plans.
Conducting site assessments, feasibility studies, and providing technical advice during both design and construction stages.
Ensuring all landscape designs meet sustainability standards, local authority regulations, and project-specific requirements.
Overseeing site works during the construction phase to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, and quality standards.
Managing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure timely and successful project completion.
Participating in client meetings, authority approvals, presentations, and stakeholder engagements.
Mentoring and guiding junior landscape engineers and design team members to develop technical skills and design excellence.
Driving innovation by incorporating sustainable landscaping practices and emerging technologies into project solutions.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelors Degree in Architectural Engineering or Landscape Architecure, Architecture or closely related disciplines.
Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience.
Strong technical expertise in landscape engineering, including hardscape, softscape, grading, and irrigation design.
Proficiency in design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Solid understanding of sustainable landscape practices, horticulture, and environmental site planning.
Experience managing full project lifecycles from concept design to construction supervision.
Excellent coordination skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams (architecture, urban planning, civil engineering, and environmental consultants).
Strong site inspection and construction supervision capabilities to ensure design intent is maintained.
In-depth knowledge of local regulations, authority requirements, and international landscaping standards (e.g., LEED, Estidama).
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines under pressure.
Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.
Leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior team members and promote teamwork.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Certification in sustainable design practices (e.g., LEED AP, Estidama PQP, SITES AP).
Advanced proficiency in landscape-specific software such as Lumion, Rhino, SketchUp, or GIS applications.
Strong creative design ability combined with practical engineering solutions for challenging sites.
Experience working on large-scale urban developments, public realm enhancements, parks, or resort landscapes.
Knowledge of smart irrigation systems, water conservation techniques, and native/adaptive planting strategies.
Familiarity with BIM workflows for landscape projects.
Experience preparing technical reports, specifications, and tender documents.
Ability to engage with regulatory authorities and support the approvals process.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to propose innovative, cost-effective solutions.
Previous experience mentoring or supervising a small team of engineers or landscape architects.
