Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a Senior Project Manager, Airport Terminal to join our team! In this role you will get to work on one of the biggest airports in the world.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Our client, the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), is in pursuit to fill a Senior Project Management (Terminal Development Director) position that will oversee terminal modernization.  The candidate shall have proven leadership acumen that includes the ability to communicate with a diverse array of stakeholders, executive leaders, and the entire project team. This position will report to LAWA’s Deputy Executive. The position is full-time and onsite at LAX. 

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Minimum of 20 years of management experience with heavy civil and vertical design and construction programs that involve aviation
  • Candidate has expertise in all aspects of a project management from planning to project closeout
  • Experience with a variety of construction methodologies and materials
  • Experience with ground up construction, aviation experience is a plus
  • Experience with progressive design build
  • Experience managing a construction contract, risk management and change management
  • Specific specialized experience managing claims on behalf of an owner successfully
  • Experience successfully managing the successful financial and schedule performance for a project
  • Proven leadership skills on previous large mega type design and construction projects
  • Experience representing the owner in the role of project management during all stages of the program
  • Understanding of airport and airline operations and working within a operating environment
  • Understanding of design and construction methodologies, delivery methods, solicitation of services and project life-cycles
  • Leader in stakeholder engagement to identity, communicate, resolution and accomplishment of needs, while preserving the principles and criteria of the project scope, schedule and budget constraints
  • Maintaining an excellent working relationship with the design and construction professionals geared towards open communications and mutual problem solving in the best interest of the project and all other parties involved
  • Developing and maintaining a high level team through professionalism that reflects well on the project team, external stakeholders and LAWA’s internal stakeholders
  • A four-year degree is required, in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field is preferred
  • Ability to effectively present to technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively
  • Follow LAWA processes and technical requirements and ensure project meets the LAWA technical requirements
  • Candidates will work in a transparent and ethical manner and ensure LAWA is aware of all aspects of the project and well as forecasts


What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Develop project scope of work, schedule and budget baselines, and methods for monitoring the performance, analysis, work authorization, and reports that are necessary for the successful execution of terminal modernization
  • Establish technical scope, budget and schedule baseline objectives and verifying that these objectives are met while maintaining quality in the Program
  • Ensure that Program activities are conducted in accordance with the contract,  legal, environmental and LAWA requirements
  • Oversee the approval of all contract requisitions for procurement of services
  • Provide and present to LAWA management with monthly program status reports. A monthly progress review meeting will be held with key program personnel, work with LAWA schedule and cost team and ensure the LAWA global schedule is maintained and accurate
  • Resolve the timely provision of temporary support facilities – such as employee parking, job site trailers, lay down areas, etc., to improve the efficiency of the work
  • Develop commissioning plan with the commissioning agent and work closely with the ORAT team
  • Create paths of resolution of issues to include properties, leases, operational interfaces, transitions, warranties, commissioning and integration of airlines and concessionaires
  • Develop and implement a Risk Management Plan with the LAWA risk management team consistent with LAWA policies and procedures
  • Work closely with the LAWA safety, inspection and logistics teams to ensure all LAWA requirements are fulfilled and a world class safety program in place and maintained for the project
  • Provide stakeholder coordination involving: Authorities Having Jurisdiction, LAWA departments, the public, tenants, airlines, concessionaires, utilities, and other interested parties involved in the project and the completed facility
  • Coordinate with City Departments regarding building permits, inspection and testing and Certificates of Occupancy
  • Ensure a working relationship with other LAWA divisions (Planning, Operations, Facilities Maintenance, Commercial, Inspections, Safety, ITMG, etc.) by providing technical and operational update reviews of in-progress drawings and construction activities
  • Develop proposed plans for staff and resources for LAWA approval and action to accomplish program objectives
  • Provide expertise during contract negotiations to insure all project goals, particularly cost and schedule, are maintained
  • Adept at using project controls as a management tool
  • Management and mitigating change orders and claims
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat and Bluebeam is required
  • Experience with Prolog and other PMIS systems is a plus
  • Experience with Primavera 6 is required
  • 20 or more years of experience with airport projects, specifically airport terminals. 
  • Must have a self-starter attitude with proactive, results-oriented focus; and willing and capable to assume additional responsibilities
  • Must be able to interface with a variety of people with different technical levels and educational backgrounds
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be detail oriented and highly organized
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering or Construction Management is required
  • Professional Engineering License or Registered Architect License is preferred

Salary Range: $144,800.00 - $260,600.00
