Job Description:
Parsons is seeking an experienced Senior MEP & Systems Manager - Sports & Events Facilities to lead the planning, design management, technical coordination, installation oversight, testing & commissioning, and handover of all MEP and specialist stadium systems associated with major sports and entertainment venue developments.
The role is responsible for managing all building services, utilities, and specialist venue systems throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring integration across design, construction, operational readiness, and handover activities. The position will serve as the technical lead for MEP and specialist systems coordination between the Project Management Team, Lead Design Consultant, contractors, specialist vendors, operators, and stakeholders.
The Senior MEP & Systems Manager shall ensure that all systems are designed, installed, tested, commissioned, and handed over in accordance with project requirements, operational needs, safety standards, and international best practices applicable to world-class sports and entertainment venues.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all MEP and specialist systems delivery activities throughout design, procurement, construction, testing & commissioning, and handover.
Manage the interface between the Lead Design Consultant, contractors, specialist suppliers, operators, and project stakeholders for all MEP and venue systems.
Oversee the review and coordination of MEP and specialist systems design submissions.
Ensure integration and coordination between architectural, structural, MEP, ICT, security, and venue technology disciplines.
Lead technical reviews, design workshops, constructability reviews, and value engineering exercises related to MEP and specialist systems.
Monitor design and construction progress to ensure compliance with project schedule, quality, and performance requirements.
Manage installation, testing, commissioning, and system integration activities.
Review technical submissions, shop drawings, material approvals, and contractor method statements.
Ensure all MEP and specialist systems comply with applicable codes, standards, authority requirements, and project specifications.
Lead technical issue resolution and manage design changes affecting building services and specialist systems.
Support procurement and tender evaluations for specialist systems and equipment packages.
Coordinate operational readiness activities and ensure successful system demonstrations, testing, training, and handover.
MEP Systems Oversight
The role shall oversee the delivery and integration of:
HVAC and environmental control systems.
Electrical distribution systems.
Emergency power generation systems.
Lighting and sports lighting systems.
Water supply, drainage, and plumbing systems.
Fire protection and life safety systems.
Building Management Systems (BMS).
Energy monitoring and sustainability systems.
Utility and infrastructure connections.
Specialist Sports/ Events Systems Oversight
The role shall oversee the delivery and integration of:
Venue ICT and telecommunications systems.
Structured cabling systems.
Security and access control systems.
CCTV and video surveillance systems.
Public address and voice alarm systems.
Audio-visual systems.
Broadcast and media infrastructure.
Distributed antenna systems (DAS).
Wi-Fi and spectator connectivity systems.
Large-format digital displays and scoreboards.
Timing, scoring, and event management systems.
Integrated command and control center systems.
Crowd management and security screening systems.
Specialist event and venue operational systems.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
Master's Degree preferred.
Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer, CIBSE, ASHRAE, or equivalent professional accreditation preferred.
Minimum 15 years of experience in MEP engineering, systems integration, technical management, or project delivery.
Minimum 7 years in a senior MEP or building services management role on major developments.
Demonstrated experience delivering MEP systems for large and complex developments.
Experience managing specialist technology and venue systems on sports, entertainment, aviation, transportation, hospitality, or public assembly facilities.
Strong understanding of stadium operational requirements and event-day functionality.
Extensive experience in testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing, operational readiness, and handover processes.
Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary consultants, contractors, specialist vendors, and operators.
Strong knowledge of international building codes, life safety requirements, and industry best practices.
Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
