Job Description:

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Abu Dhabi, UAE

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to design and planning of Sewage Treatment Plants, Sewage pump stations, lift stations, process design, odor Control system. treatment facilities and associated piping, process and mechanical systems.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Responsible for the design and planning of sewage treatment plants, sewage pump and lift stations, process design, odour control systems, treatment facilities, and associated piping, process, and mechanical systems.

• Undertake the design and planning of various sewage treatment systems such as Activated Sludge Process, Membrane Bioreactors, Moving Bed Biofilm Reactors, containerized units, and package STPs.

• Develop the internal design of treatment system components, including pump stations, screening chambers, grit chambers, primary settling tanks, clarifiers, aeration tanks, blowers, diffusers, trickling filters, chlorination systems, sludge handling units, and dewatering systems.

• Carry out the design and planning of potable water, irrigation, stormwater, and wastewater pumping stations, along with associated piping and mechanical systems.

• Engineer piping systems and pipelines, including preparation of piping GA drawings, equipment layouts, piping isometrics, valve chamber piping drawings, material take‑offs, pump selection, pipe selection and sizing, tank selection and sizing, wet well sizing, and valve selection.

• Develop system curves, perform pump calculations, and select pumps in coordination with pump vendors.

• Produce HVAC and ventilation designs for pump stations, treatment plants, and associated facilities.

• Develop fire protection system designs for pump stations and associated facilities.

• Conduct design review of HVAC, ventilation, and chilled water systems.

• Evaluate physical modelling and CFD modelling of wet wells and pump intake designs.

• Prepare specifications, technical data sheets, process diagrams, material requisitions, testing and commissioning procedures, O&M manuals, etc., for mechanical and piping/pipeline materials in line with project requirements.

• Assess tender submissions, compile recommended queries to bidders, prepare Technical Tender Evaluation Reports for clients, and contribute to the preparation of contract documents.

• Compile cost estimates for mechanical and process equipment in coordination with mechanical equipment vendors.

• Estimate level of effort and associated costs, and support the submission of bids for engineering and construction projects.

• Perform design reviews of mechanical, process, and piping drawings, including general piping design, equipment layouts, piping isometrics, valve chamber piping, etc., ensuring compliance with project specifications and standard procedures.

• Check and comment on equipment testing and commissioning procedures.

• Review operation and maintenance manuals.

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer‑generated reports.

• Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and related data to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.

• Examine and refine troubleshooting procedures, monitor progress, perform tests, conduct inspections, and assist in identifying financial improvement opportunities.

• Specify system components or direct modifications to products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.

• Recommend design modifications to eliminate equipment or system malfunctions.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university

• Minimum 8+ years' experience in designing of sewage pump stations and major utility buildings related to infrastructure works (out of which 7 years in UAE).

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

• Preferred TAQA-WS/TAQA-D/TAQA-T /Developers/ADM projects design experiences.

• Experience in Pipe sizing and hydraulic calculation softwares

• HVAC calculations, Revit model review experience.

• Wet well CFD modeling experience.

• Piping stress analysis experience

• Relevant GCC experienced candidates are wlecome to apply.
