Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Health & Safety Coordinator to join our team! In this role you will get to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all employees and stakeholders, managing risk assessments, safety audits, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to foster a culture of safety and ensure that all health and safety protocols are effectively implemented and followed.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
Ensure all health and safety practices align with local, national, and industry-specific regulations.
Conduct regular audits of health and safety practices to ensure continuous improvement.
Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard analyses for various workplace activities and environments.
Identify potential hazards and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken to mitigate risks.
Develop and implement safety measures to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational diseases.
Organize and deliver health and safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and new hires.
Ensure that employees are informed and well-versed in safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and best practices.
Maintain records of all health and safety training and certifications.
Lead investigations of workplace incidents, accidents, or near-misses, ensuring thorough documentation and root cause analysis.
Develop and recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
Report on safety performance and incident trends to senior management, ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
Stay up-to-date with changing health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
Prepare and submit required safety reports to regulatory bodies in a timely manner.
Ensure that safety audits and inspections are conducted regularly and that any non-compliance is addressed promptly.
Develop and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring readiness for workplace accidents, natural disasters, and other emergencies.
Conduct regular emergency drills and coordinate with relevant teams to ensure the safety of all personnel.
Provide leadership and guidance during emergency situations, ensuring efficient execution of emergency protocols.
Monitor and track key health and safety performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of safety programs.
Provide regular reports to senior leadership on safety trends, challenges, and program effectiveness.
Continuously improve the health and safety culture through employee engagement, feedback, and program refinement.
Lead and mentor a team of health and safety officers and coordinators, ensuring their professional development and performance.
Foster a positive safety culture and encourage employee participation in safety initiatives.
Collaborate with other departments to integrate safety into daily operations and organizational practices.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) are highly desirable.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety management role, ideally in high-risk industries such as construction, manufacturing, or logistics.
Proven experience in developing and implementing health and safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and managing incident investigations.
Strong understanding of relevant safety regulations, including OSHA standards and local regulations.
In-depth knowledge of health and safety laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
Strong problem-solving abilities and experience in identifying and mitigating safety risks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees at all levels.
Experience in health and safety auditing and reporting.
Proficiency with safety management software and tools.
Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA.
Experience in emergency preparedness and crisis management.
Ability to lead and influence change across a diverse workforce.
Familiarity with accident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
Experience in managing safety across multiple sites or regions.
