Senior Electrical Engineer
Abu Dhabi, UAE
The Senior Electrical Engineer completes a wide variety of engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses. The Engineer at this level is a fully qualified professional, proficient in the utilization of most engineering theories and practices. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations. Typical duties will include but not be limited to the preparation of concept, preliminary and detailed designs, design reports, preparation of Tender and Contract documents. These are delivered through tasks related to coordination with Client, Stakeholders and third parties, engineering calculations, plans, design, layout and project specifications.
What You'll Be Doing:
Perform design/analyses calculations related to electrical works such as low voltage distribution network, medium voltage and high voltage networks, substations, pump stations, water and wastewater treatment plants, industrial plant electrification, standby power systems, AC/ DC power systems protection and controls and ELV systems using governing engineering formulas, standards, skills, and experience.
General Arrangements, Layouts and plans. Single line diagrams, protection diagrams, schematic diagrams
Research and prepare design options and documents
Value engineering studies
Review drawings.
Extract engineering information from CAD drawings.
Prepare engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs
Frequently interface with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
Review shop drawings, supplier drawing and technical submittals
Prepare and issue specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
Perform technical tender analyses and prepares tender evaluation report.
Provide technical guidance to BIM modelers, CAD Designers, Drafters, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a major University. Professional Engineer registration may be required.
Minimum 10+ years of related experience with progressively increasing responsibility.
At least 2 years as a Design Engineer with some responsibility for supervision of design resources.
Fluent in International design practices, standards such as IEC, BS, ANSI.
Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other engineering design software packages such as ETAP, Sinical, CYME, Dialux or similar.
Worked on projects with local utility companies ADDC, TRANSCO, DEWA, FEWA etc. and well versed with their specifications and systems.
Extensive and knowledgeable computer skills (AutoCAD), BIM.
Ability to implement Quality Management System on projects effectively.
Good spoken and written English is essential.
