Job Description:
Senior Communication Systems Engineer
Parsons is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Communications (COMMS) Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will work under the guidance of the Communications Specialist and the Rail Systems Manager. The primary responsibility will be to oversee the installation and testing of various Communications sub-systems and equipment at designated locations. This role demands good technical experience, a thorough understanding of practical installation methods, and the ability to ensure compliance with project specifications and schedules.
What You'll Be Doing:
Oversee the installation and testing of various COMMS sub-systems such as fiber optic, radio and other wireless networks, and other sub-systems such as SCADA, CCTV, PIS/PAS, NMS etc., ensuring that all work is completed according to project specifications and industry standards.
Coordinate with contractors and project teams to ensure timely and accurate installation of COMMS equipment.
Coordinate and oversee testing of COMMS system to verify proper functionality and performance.
Document and report any issues identified during installation and testing, and work with relevant teams to resolve them.
Ability to understand technical specifications, design drawings, and documentation for these sub-systems.
Maintain accurate records of contractor activities, installation progress, and system performance and provide updates to the Communications Specialist/Manager and Rail Systems Manager.
Collaborate with contractors, other technicians, and engineers to resolve complex technical problems.
Ensure that all contractor activities comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
Conduct safety inspections and adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
Participate in training programs to stay updated on the latest COMMS technologies and best practices.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
15 years of experience in the installation, testing, maintenance of the COMMS sub-systems.
Technical skills and proficiency in troubleshooting electronic systems.
Familiarity with communication technologies, including radio, fiber optics, and wireless networks.
Experience overseeing the contractor's installation and testing of electronic systems is preferred.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
GCC experience is preferred.
Experience on large Rail Infrastructure program is a must.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Skills / Competencies:
Good oral and written skills for project interactions
Ability to interface with all levels with project team, client, and others.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret project documents.
Ability to function in a multi-organizational environment by developing relationships that complies with the client’s proactive, collaborative culture.
