Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Claims/Contract Manager
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead the administration and management of major construction and infrastructure head contracts.
- Assess, manage, negotiate, and resolve complex claims, including delay and extension of time, disruption, prolongation, variations, Provisional Sum works, loss and expense, acceleration, and productivity-related claims.
- Review contractual entitlement, causation, responsibility, quantum, time impact, supporting records, programmes, and cost information.
- Apply recognised delay and disruption analysis methodologies, including the SCL Delay and Disruption Protocol.
- Instruct and manage independent delay, planning, quantum, and other specialist experts.
- Lead issue resolution, dispute avoidance, commercial negotiations, and settlement discussions.
- Support and manage formal dispute resolution processes, including DAB/DAAB proceedings, mediation, and arbitration.
- Prepare clear, accurate, and formally defensible contractual assessments, reports, position papers, recommendations, and correspondence for the Employer and project leadership.
- Maintain claims registers, commercial risk registers, dispute logs, entitlement schedules, and contractual records.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of contracts, claims, and commercial administration professionals.
- Manage relationships with the Employer, contractors, cost consultants, design consultants, programme reviewers, legal advisers, and other project stakeholders.
- Provide sound commercial advice while balancing contractual entitlement, project delivery requirements, commercial objectives, and stakeholder relationships.
- Identify contractual and commercial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience on large-scale construction and infrastructure projects in a senior contracts, claims, or commercial role.
- In-depth, demonstrable expertise in claims assessment, negotiation, resolution, and project or Employer reporting.
- Detailed knowledge of head contract management and administration under major standard forms, including FIDIC, NEC, and bespoke Employer’s contracts.
- Significant experience managing complex delay, extension of time, disruption, prolongation, variation, Provisional Sum, and loss and expense claims.
- Strong working knowledge of delay analysis methodologies and construction programme analysis.
- Experience instructing, managing, and interfacing with independent delay, planning, quantum, and other technical experts.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary commercial and contracts teams.
- Strong issue resolution, dispute avoidance, negotiation, and settlement skills.
- Experience with formal dispute resolution mechanisms, including DAB/DAAB, mediation, and arbitration.
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-party relationships across major construction projects.
- Sound commercial judgement and the ability to balance strict contractual entitlement with project delivery and relationship considerations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise, persuasive, and formally defensible written positions suitable for issuance without further rework.
- Strong analytical, organisational, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
