Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Architect to join our team! In this role you will get to oversee the design and development of airport facilities, ensuring that architectural solutions meet both functional and aesthetic requirements while adhering to safety standards and operational needs, ultimately enhancing the passenger experience and airport efficiency.

Architectural Design & Development:

• Lead the architectural design for airport facilities, including terminals, runways, concourses, and support buildings.

• Develop and refine conceptual designs, detailed architectural drawings, and construction documents.

• Ensure that architectural designs optimize space, functionality, and the passenger experience while adhering to airport operational needs.

Project Leadership & Coordination:

• Lead and mentor a team of architects and design professionals, providing guidance and ensuring design quality.

• Coordinate closely with engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure a unified approach to design and implementation.

• Oversee the progress of projects from concept through to completion, ensuring they stay on schedule, within budget, and meet the required standards of quality.

Collaboration with Airport Operations:

• Work closely with airport authorities and operational teams to ensure designs align with operational requirements and improve the efficiency of airport functions.

• Address unique challenges faced by airport infrastructure, including security, accessibility, and passenger flow.

Compliance & Safety:

• Ensure all architectural designs comply with applicable local, national, and international regulations, including building codes, safety standards, and airport-specific guidelines.

• Lead risk assessments and implement safety strategies within architectural designs to enhance airport security and safety.

Sustainability & Innovation:

• Incorporate sustainable design principles and environmentally-friendly practices into architectural solutions.

• Propose and apply innovative design solutions that enhance functionality while contributing to energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and long-term operational effectiveness.

Stakeholder Management & Reporting:

• Present design proposals, progress reports, and final designs to key stakeholders, including airport management, regulatory agencies, and contractors.

• Actively engage with clients, respond to feedback, and adjust designs as necessary to meet the evolving needs of the airport project.

Documentation & Compliance:

• Ensure the maintenance of accurate and detailed documentation for all design, approval, and construction phases.

• Keep track of design revisions and ensure that all necessary permits and regulatory approvals are obtained.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in architectural design, with at least 5 years focused on airport or transportation infrastructure projects.

  • Proven experience in managing large-scale architectural projects, particularly in the airport or aviation industry.

• Skills & Knowledge:

  • Extensive knowledge of architectural design principles, construction processes, and building systems.

  • Expertise in designing airport-specific facilities, such as terminals, airside structures, baggage handling, and security infrastructure.

  • Proficiency in architectural design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, etc.).

  • In-depth understanding of local, national, and international building codes and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong leadership skills, including team management, mentorship, and collaboration with other professionals.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Licensed Architect (RA or equivalent).

• Certification in Project Management (PMP or equivalent).

• Experience with sustainable design practices and green building certifications (LEED, BREEAM, etc.).

• Experience with advanced building modeling or BIM tools.
