Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Lead Transport Planner / Modeler and Mobility Expert with a desire to work on infrastructure projects that change the fabric of our community. What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the preparation and periodic update of master plans, area plans, and the Responsible for Transportation Master Plan.
- Participate in the preparation and periodic update of other planning documents as required (e.g. land subdivision plans, transportation plans, pedestrian circulation plans, etc.)
- Manage Transportation Master Plan and Lead Tenants' Transportation Plans Reviews.
- Liaise with the Engineering team for Infrastructure design and coordinate with master planning team.
- Participate in master planning and land planning related activities from preparing scopes of work through monitoring plan compliance and managing change
- Plan for the provision of the requisite infrastructure and community facilities, amenities, and services
- Participate in special plans and studies (e.g. Workforce residential; way-finding; etc.)
- Participate in monitoring plan compliance and provide technical support during plan implementation
- Provide the necessary guidance to promote safe, sustainable, and attractive developments
- Participate in preparing development and design guidelines, codes, and other rules or regulations as required
- Carry out any other activity identified to support
- Provide and receive inputs on all updates and strategic interactions related to urban planning at the Client Sites
- Liaise and interact with external stakeholders and other regulatory bodies (especially Department of Transportation), tenants and their consultants, as needed, to communicate urban planning matters.
- As a Lead Mobility (Traffic) Engineer, you will be responsible for preparing comprehensive traffic reports, including traffic impact studies, traffic impact assessments, traffic survey reports, methodology reports, and other technical documentation to support project development and decision-making.
- Develop and calibrate strategic transport models using industry-standard software such as VISUM and EMME, ensuring accurate representation of transportation systems and future scenarios.
- Create detailed micro-simulation models using PTV VISSIM to analyze traffic flow, optimize operations, and assess the impact of proposed infrastructure changes.
- Conduct thorough reviews and ensure traffic diversion safety during construction phases, minimizing disruptions and maintaining public safety.
- Perform advanced road network analysis using software tools such as Sidra, Synchro, and HCS, providing actionable insights to improve traffic operations and network efficiency.
- Maintain first-level quality assurance to ensure all work adheres to project specifications, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment, coordinating with planners, engineers, architects, and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior staff, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Interface with clients, contractors, and upper-level management, presenting findings, recommendations, and progress updates in a clear and professional manner.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in transportation modeling and traffic engineering.
- Exhibit strong communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively convey technical concepts, prepare reports, and engage with diverse audiences.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required, contributing to the successful delivery of projects and organizational goals.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Hold a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
Possess 15+ years of progressive experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, and modeling, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects.
