The Mechanical Engineer will design, analyze, prototype, and support manufacturing of mechanical and thermal devices and subsystems that enable Drone Armor systems to perform reliably in demanding operational environments.
What You'll Be Doing
Mechanical & Thermal Problem Analysis
- Analyze problems to determine how mechanical and thermal devices or subsystems can help solve mission and system challenges
- Evaluate environmental, structural, and thermal constraints relevant to C-UAS platforms and support equipment
Mechanical/Thermal Design & CAD
- Design or redesign mechanical and thermal devices or subsystems using analytical methods and computer-aided design (CAD) tools
- Develop detailed models, drawings, and specifications for components and assemblies used in Drone Armor systems
Failure Investigation & Corrective Actions
- Investigate equipment failures or performance difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedies
- Perform root cause analysis and propose design, material, or process changes to improve reliability and maintainability
Prototyping, Testing & Iteration
- Develop and test prototypes of mechanical and thermal devices you design
- Analyze test results, assess performance against requirements, and change the design or system as needed
- Support lab and field testing, including instrumentation, data collection, and test setup for mechanical components
Manufacturing Support & Oversight
- Oversee the manufacturing process for devices and subsystems, coordinating with fabrication, suppliers, and quality teams
- Review manufacturing plans, build issues, and nonconformances, providing engineering disposition and guidance
- Ensure that designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and aligned with program schedule and quality objectives

- SECRET security clearance
What Desired Skills You'll Bring
Advanced Education & Training
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
- Relevant coursework or training in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and structural mechanics
Specialized Experience
- Experience supporting DoD, aerospace, defense, or C-UAS-related mechanical systems
- Experience designing for harsh environments (shock, vibration, temperature, dust, moisture)
Additional Technical Skills
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) or thermal analysis tools
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, additive manufacturing, sheet metal, composites) and design-for-manufacture (DFM) principles
