Job Description:

Parsons is seeking a highly experienced Laboratory / Specialist Facilities Coordination Lead to support a large-scale research and development facilities project. In this role, you will help oversee, review, and coordinate laboratory and specialist technical facility requirements across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. Acting as the PMC’s focal point for laboratory-related inputs, you will coordinate with the Lead Design Consultant, specialist designers, user representatives, and contractors to ensure inputs are properly tracked, integrated, and aligned with project delivery requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the review, coordination, and implementation of laboratory and specialist technical facility requirements across all stages of project delivery, from design through commissioning and handover.

  • Review laboratory planning, technical submissions, design packages, and interface requirements prepared by the Lead Design Consultant and specialist designers.

  • Monitor the incorporation of specialist laboratory requirements, including wet and dry laboratories, controlled environments, specialist gases, laboratory drainage systems, ventilation and exhaust systems, vibration-sensitive facilities, cleanrooms, prototyping workshops, robotics facilities, and specialist equipment interfaces.

  • Act as the primary coordination interface for laboratory matters across multidisciplinary project teams to ensure alignment of design, procurement, installation, operational, and commissioning requirements.

  • Identify design, scope, constructability, sequencing, and integration risks affecting laboratory and specialist facilities and support their resolution through established project governance processes.

  • Participate in design reviews, technical workshops, and assurance activities, providing guidance on functionality, maintainability, constructability, operational readiness, and project delivery considerations.

  • Support procurement and tender activities through the review of technical specifications, scope interfaces, specialist system requirements, and technical clarifications associated with laboratory facilities.

  • Monitor laboratory-related RFIs, technical submittals, shop drawings, material approvals, design changes, and specialist vendor coordination activities during construction.

  • Coordinate the resolution of laboratory-related technical issues arising between designers, contractors, specialist suppliers, and project stakeholders.

  • Monitor quality management, non-conformance resolution, snagging activities, and completion requirements associated with laboratory and specialist technical environments.

  • Support the coordination of testing, commissioning, validation, and readiness activities for laboratory spaces and specialist systems.

  • Review handover readiness, ensuring laboratory-related documentation, as-built records, O&M manuals, warranties, training requirements, and close-out actions are completed in accordance with project requirements.

  • Assist with post-handover defect management and close-out activities during the Defects Liability Period.

What Required Skills You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Laboratory Planning, Building Services, Applied Sciences, or a related technical discipline.

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in planning, design, delivery, coordination, or management of laboratory, research, healthcare, life sciences, advanced technology, or specialist technical facilities.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders on large-scale, technically complex facilities projects.

  • Working knowledge of laboratory planning principles, specialist building systems, cleanrooms, controlled environments, specialist utilities, commissioning processes, and technical facility requirements.

  • Experience in managing technical interfaces between user requirements, specialist equipment vendors, design consultants, contractors, and operational stakeholders.

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical coordination skills.

  • Proven ability to identify risks, resolve interface challenges, and drive coordination across multiple project disciplines.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring

  • Experience delivering research and development, life sciences, academic, healthcare, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, or technology-focused facilities.

  • Familiarity with laboratory commissioning, validation, operational readiness, and handover processes.

  • Professional registration, chartership, or relevant industry accreditation is preferred.

  • Experience working on major international programs and complex capital projects within a PMC or client organization environment.
