Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Interface Coordinator to join our team!

What You’ll Be Doing:

Interface Management & Coordination:

  • Serve as the Interface Management coordinator for managing and administrating the Infrastructure-wide interface management tools and processes between different engineering disciplines, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.

  • Assist the Design Interface Managers for the Infrastructure sectors to coordinate between internal teams and external parties to ensure that design, construction, and operational interfaces are well-managed and all requirements are met.

  • Assist the Design Interface Managers to ensure that technical interfaces are identified and tracked throughout the project lifecycle, facilitating alignment between various teams.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Facilitate effective communication between cross-functional teams, ensuring that all project stakeholders are informed of interface-related issues and progress.

  • Support interface review meetings, workshops, and discussions to ensure clarity on requirements and expectations across different teams.

  • Assist in managing contractor relations to ensure that interface-related contractual obligations are met.

Risk Identification & Issue Resolution:

  • Proactively identify potential risks and challenges related to interfaces, such as misalignment of design, construction conflicts, or operational inefficiencies.

  • Support the development and implementation of mitigation strategies to resolve interface issues before they impact the project schedule or budget.

  • Assist the Design Interface Managers to address any interface-related disputes or misunderstandings between stakeholders, facilitating quick resolutions and keeping the project on track.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain a comprehensive record of all interface-related communications, decisions, and actions taken to resolve issues.

  • Develop interface management reports that track the status of all open interface items, along with timelines and action plans for resolution.

  • Ensure all interface-related documentation is clear, accurate, and accessible to all relevant parties.

Technical Coordination:

  • Support, as required by the Design Integration Manager or Design Interface Managers -

    Ensure that the design and engineering solutions of each interface align with project specifications and overall objectives.

    Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical interface issues, ensuring designs, drawings, and specifications are consistent across all disciplines.

    Ensure that change management processes are followed when addressing interface issues and that all changes are communicated effectively.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Ensure that all interface processes adhere to project quality standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Review interface agreements and ensure that all stakeholders are in compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and contractual requirements.

  • Work closely with the project quality team to ensure that interface-related audits and inspections are properly managed and documented.

Continuous Improvement & Lessons Learned:

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of interface management processes, ensuring better efficiency and fewer conflicts in future projects.

  • Conduct post-project reviews to document lessons learned regarding interface management and propose improvements for future projects.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in interface coordination or a related role within large-scale infrastructure projects.

    • Proven track record of managing interfaces across multiple disciplines in complex projects (e.g., civil engineering, MEP systems, construction).

    • Experience working with contractors, design teams, and project managers to resolve interface-related issues.

  • Skills & Knowledge:

    • Understanding of interface management techniques and tools (e.g., interface registers, management software).

    • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues early and resolve them in a timely manner.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across multiple delivery related organisations.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Certifications & Professional Development:

    • Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or Chartered Engineer (CEng).

    • Certification in Lean Construction or Six Sigma is a plus.

  • Industry Experience:

    • Experience in managing interface coordination in complex projects, such as infrastructure (roads, utilities), buildings, or transportation projects.

    • Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) tools and software for managing project data and interfaces.

  • Technological Expertise:

    • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project, Aconex).

    • Proficient in using interface management tools or document control systems for tracking and reporting.
