Job Description:

Highway Design Engineer

Qatar

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Highway Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will work on significant infrastructure projects that help shape and improve the community. You will be responsible for the design and delivery of highway and roadway projects in accordance with international and local standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Providing project civil engineering design services, including preparation of project study reports, project reports, geometric approval drawings, plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Designing horizontal and vertical roadway alignments and super-elevation diagrams.
• Performing quantity calculations and preparing project cost estimates.
• Managing and guiding Associate Engineers in completing project deliverables.
• Developing construction details, detour layouts, and signing and pavement marking plans.
• Coordinating with the project team and interdisciplinary technical personnel to ensure integrated and compliant designs.
• Assisting senior staff in the completion of project deliverables and design tasks.
• Providing support for other engineering activities as required.
• Providing input and technical guidance to CAD Designers/Drafters, Designers, and junior Engineers working on the same project.
• Performing other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• 7 years of relevant experience in highway and roadway design.
• Proven experience using Autodesk Civil 3D, MicroStation, and GEOPAK.
• Thorough working knowledge of AASHTO design guidelines.
• Demonstrated roadway and highway design experience on projects in Qatar.
• Strong experience in geometric alignment design.
• Must be MME certified.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to prepare technical correspondence and documentation related to design responsibilities.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring

• Proficiency in the application of standard civil engineering theories, principles, and practices, as well as Parsons’ procedures.
• Experience with CAE (computer-aided engineering) and CAD (computer-aided design) applications in roadway/highway projects.
• Strong coordination and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary project environment.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality design work.
