Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Health & Safety Coordinator to join our team! In this role you will get to ensure that health, safety, and environmental standards are met across all activities on the Airport Development Project.
This includes developing safety policies, conducting inspections, investigating incidents, and providing ongoing training to staff. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in construction safety, a deep understanding of safety regulations, and a commitment to fostering a safe working environment to support the successful delivery of the project.
What You'll Be Doing;
- Develop, implement, and enforce health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines across all site activities.
- Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international HSE regulations and standards, including Saudi Arabia-specific construction and safety regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and recommend mitigation measures.
- Perform regular safety inspections of the construction site to identify hazards and ensure compliance with HSE standards.
- Participate in and support the preparation of safety audits, ensuring any corrective actions are tracked and implemented.
- Inspect construction equipment and machinery for proper functioning and safety compliance.
- Respond to and investigate all workplace accidents or near misses, documenting findings and preparing reports.
- Identify root causes of incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and safety-related issues, reporting to senior management and relevant authorities.
- Conduct regular safety training sessions, workshops, and inductions for all site personnel, ensuring they are familiar with safety protocols and procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness on-site, encouraging workers to follow safety practices and report hazards.
- Ensure that employees and contractors are properly equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE) and are using it effectively.
- Develop, implement, and monitor emergency response plans, ensuring all personnel are trained on how to act in the event of an emergency (e.g., fire, medical emergency, natural disaster).
- Organize regular emergency drills and ensure that safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, first aid kits, evacuation routes) is well-maintained and accessible.
- Maintain accurate records of all safety inspections, audits, incidents, and safety-related activities.
- Prepare and submit regular safety reports to the project management team, highlighting any safety concerns, initiatives, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure that all safety documentation is up-to-date and readily available for regulatory inspections or audits
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that safety considerations are integrated into the planning and execution of the project.
- Provide guidance on safety issues during the project design phase and offer input on safe construction methods and processes.
- Advise on HSE matters during the procurement process to ensure that safety standards are met for materials and equipment.
- Promote a continuous improvement approach to health and safety by evaluating HSE performance and suggesting ways to enhance safety measures and procedures.
- Monitor safety performance metrics and identify trends or areas for further training and improvement.
What Required Skills You'll Bring;
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) or similar health and safety certifications are a plus. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in health and safety coordination, with at least 2 years in a construction or large-scale infrastructure project environment.
- Proven experience in implementing and monitoring safety standards and procedures on construction sites.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, codes, and laws, specifically in construction and infrastructure sectors.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices
- Sbility to perform risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to deliver safety training and safety-related reports effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and safety management software.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate, OSHA certifications, or similar health and safety qualifications.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience working in aviation, transportation, or large-scale infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with Saudi Arabian or regional safety and environmental regulations.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and promote safety culture across the project.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
- Ability to respond swiftly to health and safety issues, find solutions, and implement corrective actions.
- Critical thinking and a proactive approach to addressing potential safety hazards before they escalate.
