Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Electrical Engineer (Design Services) to join our team!
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Review electrical design packages across all project stages, including concept, schematic, detailed design, IFC, and as-built submissions for stations, tunnels, viaducts, depots, and ancillary facilities.
- Review low-voltage power distribution systems, including single-line diagrams (SLDs), riser diagrams, switchboards, MCCs, ATSs, distribution boards, load schedules, and protection coordination studies.
- Validate electrical calculations and engineering studies, including load assessments, cable sizing, load flow, short-circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, and protective device coordination using approved software tools.
- Assess earthing, bonding, and lightning protection systems to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable international standards.
- Review lighting and emergency lighting designs, calculations, and reports to ensure compliance with operational, safety, and life-safety requirements.
- Verify electrical interfaces with life-safety and MEP systems, including smoke control, tunnel ventilation, pressurization systems, fire pumps, fire alarm systems, and essential power systems.
- Review design deliverables, including drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, manufacturer data, datasheets, method statements, and RFIs, ensuring compliance with project standards and document control requirements.
- Support testing and commissioning activities through review of FAT, SAT, and ISAT documentation, and participation in testing and startup activities as required.
- Review and recommend approval of Electrical and Instrumentation Design Specifications and Approved Manufacturer Lists in accordance with project standards.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architecture, structural, mechanical, fire engineering, and rail systems disciplines, to resolve design interfaces and clashes.
- Participate in BIM-based design coordination activities and support integrated project delivery.
- Promote safety-by-design principles, quality, sustainability, and operational reliability through effective design review and risk identification.
- Prepare technical review reports, comment registers, presentations, and recommendations to support project delivery.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design, design review, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge of international electrical codes and standards, including NEC, IEC, IEEE, and NFPA, as well as local authority requirements.
- Experience working on large-scale civil, infrastructure, industrial, or transportation projects.
- Detailed understanding of electrical systems, materials, equipment selection, and engineering design principles.
- Strong analytical, technical review, and coordination skills.
- Ability to perform electrical calculations and engineering assessments using industry-standard software.
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
- Experience on railway, metro, or transit projects.
- Previous GCC project experience.
- Proficiency in ETAP, DIALux, AGI32, or other relevant electrical engineering software.
- Experience working in BIM-enabled and multidisciplinary project environments
