Position Overview
The Drainage Engineer will complete a wide variety of engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses. The Engineer at this level is a fully qualified professional, proficient in the utilization of most engineering theories and practices.
Specific Responsibilities:
Perform designs for culverts and bridges, including hydrologic analysis with rational method or HEC-HMS, culvert analysis with HY-8 and bridge analysis with HEC-RAS.
Perform engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately.
Extract engineering information for CAD drawings (using MicroStation).
Prepare engineering computations, quantity takeoffs, estimates, and designs.
Prepare, coordinate, and supervise engineering design for assigned projects/tasks.
Participate in strategizing, storyboarding, writing, and reviewing proposals – become an integral part of the team’s success.
Serve as Discipline Lead on pursuits and opportunities with TxDOT and other clients. Support Alternative Technical Concept development for design/build proposals.
Participate in proposal writing, client meetings, and client presentations.
Engage and serve in leadership positions within industry organizations, with specific subcommittee involvement at relevant organizations.
Seek opportunities to make presentations or write articles. Encourage others in the team to do the same.
Help to build the practice by networking, attracting early career engineers, and by developing members of the team.
Preferred Experience and Education
4-year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field); Master’s degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
Minimum 0-2+ years of related work experience
EIT may be required
Experience interfacing with TxDOT is preferred.
Some knowledge of basic software such as MicroStation OpenRoads DU, ProjectWise, and Microsoft Office Suite.
