Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Design Interface Manager – Wet Utilities to join our team! In this role you will get to play a critical role in the successful integration of utility systems across complex airport infrastructure packages.
This role demands a technically proficient and proactive professional capable of resolving multidiscipline interface challenges while ensuring design compliance, constructability, and stakeholder satisfaction.
What You'll Be Doing;
- Act as the primary point of contact for all design interfaces related to wet utilities (potable water, TSE, sewerage, stormwater).
- Coordinate between multiple design consultants, engineering teams, and package leads to ensure all wet utility interfaces are identified, tracked, and resolved.
- Review and validate design submissions for wet utilities to ensure compatibility with adjacent systems (e.g., roadworks, structures, MEP, airfield services).
- Ensure designs adhere to project specifications, authority requirements, and industry standards.
- Liaise with local authorities (e.g., municipalities, utility providers) to obtain design NOCs and resolve external interface issues.
- Support coordination with permitting teams to ensure timely approvals.
- Maintain a comprehensive interface register for all wet utility systems.
- Identify, assess, and manage interface-related risks and proactively drive resolution strategies.
- Assess the impact of design changes from interfacing packages on wet utility systems and recommend mitigation measures
- Ensure that changes are reviewed, approved, and communicated across relevant teams.
- Lead regular interface coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide progress updates, highlight interface risks, and maintain accurate reporting and documentation.
- Assist construction and enabling works teams by clarifying design intent, resolving conflicts, and coordinating temporary utility connections and diversions.
- Ensure seamless transition from design to construction and support design validation in the field.
What Required Skills You'll Bring;
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in infrastructure or utility design, including at least 5 years in an interface or coordination role.
- Proven experience working on large infrastructure or airport development projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of wet utility systems (water, wastewater, TSE, stormwater).
- Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with design standards (e.g., ASHRAE, AWWA, local authority codes).
- Proficient in engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS platforms.
- Strong report writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with airport infrastructure projects or other large-scale multi-package programs.
- Prior experience working with GCC utility authorities (e.g., NWC, SWCC, municipalities).
- Working knowledge of project delivery methods (e.g., EPC, D&B) and BIM coordination.
- Familiarity with Aconex or other document control systems.
- PMP or equivalent project coordination certification is an advantage.
