Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Design Coordination Lead to join our team in Qatar! In this role, you will be part of Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team and lead the multidisciplinary design coordination process for a landmark luxury hospitality and entertainment development featuring immersive entertainment experiences, world-class hospitality, premium retail, and diverse leisure attractions.

The Design Coordination Lead will be responsible for leading the multidisciplinary design coordination process throughout the Project lifecycle, ensuring seamless integration between architectural, structural, civil, MEP, landscape, themed entertainment, ride systems, show systems, specialist consultants, and the Design & Build Contractor. The role will facilitate collaboration among the Lead Architect, Lead Design Consultant, Architect of Record (AOR), specialist designers, attraction vendors, operators, and other stakeholders to ensure the coordinated development of the design while maintaining alignment with the Client's vision, operational requirements, project objectives, budget, programme, and applicable regulatory requirements. 

Working closely with the Project Director and the wider PMC team, the Design Coordination Lead will proactively manage design interfaces, technical reviews, constructability, design changes, and multidisciplinary coordination to support efficient project delivery from design development through construction, testing & commissioning, and handover.  

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead the multidisciplinary design coordination process across all project phases, from design development through construction, testing and commissioning, and handover.

  • Coordinate the activities of the Lead Architect, Lead Design Consultant, Architect of Record, specialist consultants, themed entertainment designers, ride vendors, show system specialists, and the Design & Build Contractor.

  • Manage design interfaces between architectural, structural, civil, MEP, landscape, utilities, themed attractions, ride systems, show systems, and other specialist disciplines.

  • Facilitate regular design coordination workshops, technical reviews, interface meetings, and design-resolution sessions with project stakeholders.

  • Monitor design deliverables against the approved programme and coordinate the timely resolution of issues that may affect cost, schedule, constructability, quality, or operational requirements.

  • Review multidisciplinary design submissions for completeness, coordination, constructability, maintainability, and compliance with Client requirements, project standards, and applicable regulations.

  • Coordinate the review and resolution of RFIs, technical queries, design clarifications, shop-drawing interfaces, and design-change requests.

  • Support value engineering and design optimization initiatives while preserving design intent, guest experience, operational functionality, and project objectives.

  • Coordinate design interfaces with operators, specialist attraction vendors, utility providers, statutory authorities, and other third parties.

  • Monitor design changes and ensure their impacts on cost, schedule, quality, procurement, construction sequencing, and operational readiness are assessed and communicated.

  • Work closely with the BIM Manager to support multidisciplinary model coordination, clash resolution, and design integration.

  • Maintain design coordination registers, interface logs, action trackers, and technical documentation within the Electronic Document Management System.

  • Support construction teams by coordinating timely design responses, resolving technical issues, and facilitating the transition from design to construction and commissioning.

  • Promote collaborative working relationships across all design stakeholders to support effective decision-making and successful project delivery.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

  • Professional registration or certification is preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in multidisciplinary design coordination, design management, or technical coordination for major hospitality, entertainment, mixed-use, or destination developments.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating complex Design & Build projects involving multiple design disciplines and specialist consultants.

  • Proven experience coordinating themed entertainment designers, ride vendors, show system specialists, or other specialty design consultants on major entertainment or theme park developments.

  • Experience working with BIM-enabled design coordination processes and multidisciplinary design reviews.

  • Strong understanding of design development, construction documentation, authority approvals, and technical coordination throughout the project lifecycle.

  • GCC experience is highly desirable.

  • Extensive knowledge of Design & Build delivery, multidisciplinary design reviews, constructability assessments, value engineering, and design change management.

  • Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary stakeholders, including Lead Architects, Lead Design Consultants, Architects of Record, themed entertainment designers, ride vendors, specialist consultants, contractors, operators, utility providers, and statutory authorities.

  • Strong understanding of BIM coordination processes, multidisciplinary model integration, clash detection, and digital design coordination workflows.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder-engagement skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to resolve complex technical, design, and interface challenges in fast-paced multidisciplinary environments.

  • Ability to review and interpret complex technical documentation, drawings, specifications, design reports, and multidisciplinary engineering deliverables.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent design workstreams while maintaining alignment with project objectives, programme milestones, budget, quality standards, and operational requirements.

  • Ability to function effectively within large multidisciplinary programme environments while maintaining focus on collaboration, technical excellence, efficient design coordination, and successful project delivery.
