Job Description:
Contracts Administrator
Abu Dhabi, UAE
Parsons is looking for a Contracts Administrator to add to our growing Commercial and Contracts team in Abu Dhabi. In this role you will get to perform pre and post contract and commercial activities typical to the engineering and construction industry in the UAE. This is a varied role that may be required to be located either in our head office in Abu Dhabi with the requirement to visit sites or be based on site on a full time basis depending on the needs of the business. Having flexibility to react to the business needs is essential to be successful in this role.
In our Abu Dhabi sector, a Contracts Administrator sits above a Senior Quantity Surveyor and so this is not an administrative role, this is a mid-level Contracts role that requires appropriately skilled and experienced people to be able to work autonomously and support projects that require commercial and contractual support or work from our head office on variations, EOT’s, claims, payments, procurement, tendering etc. This role would suit a seasoned internationally experienced QS or a Senior QS who is ready to step up on the path to becoming a Commercial Manager. This is not a traditional measurement QS role.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Supporting Clients in the procurement of their Contractors, Consultants, Designers etc. This may involve preparing and reviewing tender documents and managing Parsons internal resource to prepare technical information to the required standard.
- Managing downstream procurement for Subconsultants procured directly for Parsons, working with the internal Parsons procurement team to ensure the Parsons procurement process is managed and adhered to accordingly.
- Managing Independent Cost Consultants on various pre and post contract projects.
- Lead in the evaluation of variation orders, EOT’s, and claims and preparing reports to the Client on the Contractor entitlement.
- Providing advice to various internal and external stakeholders on matters of a contractual nature and providing contractual support, where required, ensuring completeness and validity of all contractual requirements.
- Oversee the financial and contractual aspects of projects and provide support on all financial and contractual matters throughout the course of the project including reporting both internally and externally.
- Assess Contractor’s monthly payment applications, making sure that all cost and quantity records are streamlined and kept in order and provide the appropriate reports to our Clients.
- Liaise with the measurement QS team for any measurement related and pricing matters.
- Ensure that records are being kept as required and to the appropriate level of detail.
- Advise on contractor’s resource allocation.
- Audit Contractor payments.
- Monitor Contractor final cost estimates.
- Coordinate and monitor activities of the wider team where required.
- Prepare Final Accounts with all supporting documentation.
- Any other duties as required from time to time.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying degree.
- 10+ years demonstrable experience in Quantity Surveying or Contract Administration.
- Excellent written skills in particular with contractual correspondence. Excellent verbal communication skills in English is a must.
- Proven experience in analyzing contract variations and claims.
- Ability to work autonomously and be a problem solver and not a problem creator.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
- Chartered by a recognised international body such as Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) will be an added advantage.
- Experience with FIDIC.
- Due to the specific Client interfaces, experience working in the UK, Australia, or New Zealand would be a strong advantage.
- Experience working for a Consultant providing internal and external advice.
