Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Civil Inspector to join our team! In this role you will get to inspect civil construction activities and ensure work is performed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
What You'll Be Doing:
Conduct inspections to ensure work is performed in accordance with contract specifications, drawings, and approved standards.
Monitor construction activities including roads, bridges, sidewalks, curb and gutter, drainage systems, and landscaping works.
Inspect traffic control implementation and compliance with Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) requirements.
Verify installation of traffic signals, street lighting systems, ramp metering equipment, and related electrical components.
Inspect irrigation systems, planting works, and roadway signage installation and removal.
Monitor installation of temporary and permanent traffic signs and delineation systems.
Support inspection of mechanical equipment installations, building construction, and associated site development works.
Capture daily project photographs, maintain organized records, and prepare daily inspection reports and site diaries.
Verify that only approved materials are used and incorporated into the work.
Conduct labor compliance interviews and maintain as-built documentation.
Identify potential conflicts, issues, and nonconformances, and report them to the supervisor.
Maintain records including Certificates of Compliance, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and inspection documentation.
Verify installed quantities to support payment applications and change order work.
Coordinate inspection work with surveying and materials testing consultants.
Support job safety practices and quality control procedures.
Respond to site call-backs or emergency situations when required.
Provide technical guidance to junior inspectors when needed.
Ensure work is carried out in a safe manner while maintaining public safety standards.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Knowledge of public works contracts and construction processes.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
Strong mathematical and engineering calculation skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic project management software.
Strong inspection reporting and documentation skills.
Understanding of construction scheduling and project progress tracking.
Ability to review progress payment estimates and extra work documentation.
Ability to identify hazardous work conditions and implement corrective actions.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to work in field environments including climbing ladders, working at heights, and lifting materials up to 50 lbs.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Associate’s Degree in construction, engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related technical discipline is preferred.
OSHA 10-hour construction safety training or equivalent safety certification.
5+ years of experience in civil construction inspection on infrastructure projects.
Certifications related to Highway Construction, Highway Design, or Highway Surveying are preferred.
