Job Description:
The Civil Inspector will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of all civil works, with a particular focus on piling activities, for a high-profile hotel construction project. The role requires a solid civil engineering background, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with project teams to ensure that all work adheres to project specifications, standards, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection and Quality Control:
Conduct daily inspections of civil works, including piling activities, to ensure compliance with project specifications, design drawings, and relevant codes and standards.
Monitor the quality of materials, workmanship, and construction methods used on-site.
Verify that piling works are executed as per approved designs, methodologies, and safety protocols.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and site activities.
Prepare and submit detailed inspection reports, including non-conformance reports (NCRs) when necessary.
Ensure that all documentation is in line with project requirements and regulatory standards.
Coordination and Communication:
Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to address any issues or discrepancies identified during inspections.
Provide technical advice and recommendations to resolve construction challenges.
Attend site meetings and provide updates on inspection findings and progress.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure that all piling and civil works comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
Monitor and enforce adherence to health and safety protocols on-site.
Identify potential risks and recommend corrective actions to mitigate them.
Piling Works Oversight:
Supervise piling operations, including pile driving, drilling, and testing, to ensure proper execution.
Verify pile load tests and ensure that results meet design requirements.
Inspect equipment and machinery used for piling to ensure they are in good working condition.
Project Support:
Support the project team in achieving milestones and maintaining project schedules.
Assist in resolving technical issues related to civil and piling works.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Minimum [1-3] years of experience in civil construction, with a strong focus on piling works and hotel or high-rise projects.
Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
Familiarity with piling techniques such as bored piles, driven piles, and CFA (Continuous Flight Auger) piles.
Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASTM, BS, Eurocodes).
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Proficiency in using inspection tools, software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
