Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Civil Field Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to oversee the execution of civil engineering projects on-site, ensuring they are completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.

The role involves a combination of technical expertise, field leadership, and strong communication skills to effectively manage on-site operations, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Oversee and manage all civil engineering activities at the construction site, including excavation, grading, paving, and structural work.
  • Ensure that all construction activities align with the engineering design, project plans, specifications, and local regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to contractors and field crews to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the progress of work and ensure quality standards are being met.
  • Ensure that the construction team adheres to the drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Identify any non-conformance and implement corrective actions to address any quality issues.
  • Enforce safety protocols on-site, ensuring that all personnel follow health and safety standards.
  • Conduct site safety audits and toolbox talks to ensure team awareness of potential hazards.
  • Identify potential safety risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project progress aligns with timelines and objectives.
  • Provide regular updates on project status, including any challenges, risks, or delays, and propose solutions to resolve them.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for field-related questions, issues, and concerns from clients, subcontractors, or team members.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date field documentation, including daily progress reports, inspection logs, and change orders.
  • Document any deviations from the original project plan and collaborate with the design team to adjust specifications or timelines as needed.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports on construction activities, material use, manpower, and project progress to management.
  • Proactively identify any technical or operational challenges on-site and work with the team to develop effective solutions.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to equipment, materials, or project design and work with relevant teams to resolve them promptly.
  • Ensure that all field activities are completed on time, and address any delays or disruptions promptly.
  • Monitor the use of materials, equipment, and labor to ensure that resources are being used efficiently and according to project requirements.
  • Ensure that all necessary resources are available for the successful execution of field operations.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Assist in final inspections and quality assurance activities at the completion of construction.
  • Ensure that all construction work complies with local building codes and industry regulations.
  • Assist with project handover, including preparing as-built documentation and ensuring that all necessary approvals and certifications are obtained.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in civil construction, including hands-on experience in field operations.
  • Experience in managing civil engineering tasks such as roadwork, drainage systems, and structural foundations.
  • Strong technical knowledge in civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Solid understanding of construction safety protocols and site management.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address issues that arise during field operations.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Familiarity with construction project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge of local building codes, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in project close-out, including documentation, punch list management, and final inspections.
