Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Design Integration Manager to join our team! In this role you will lead the integration of all design disciplines (civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, MEP, and architectural) to ensure a cohesive, fully coordinated design package.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Act as the central point of contact for all design teams, facilitating communication between architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to address issues, align priorities, and resolve conflicts.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of a master design schedule, ensuring that all disciplines are aligned with project milestones and timelines.
  • Review and validate all design documents (drawings, specifications, reports) to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements and client expectations.
  • Ensure that design solutions are technically sound and meet all project-specific needs, including safety, sustainability, cost efficiency, and constructability.
  • Establish and implement quality assurance processes to track design quality and resolve design issues promptly during the project lifecycle.
  • Manage the design integration process from conceptual design through to detailed design, ensuring all design deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Lead design reviews, workshops, and coordination meetings to assess progress, identify risks, and propose solutions for design-related challenges.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, clients, consultants, and contractors, ensuring the smooth exchange of information and alignment on project goals.
  • Identify potential design risks and conflicts early in the process, including spatial conflicts, regulatory concerns, and design inconsistencies.
  • Lead risk management processes to develop strategies that mitigate project risks and ensure that solutions are implemented to avoid delays or cost overruns.
  • Proactively monitor project progress to ensure that design integration aligns with the project’s overall schedule, scope, and quality standards.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and ensure the timely resolution of any design conflicts.
  • Ensure that design integration accounts for the functional requirements of all disciplines while adhering to client expectations for operational efficiency, safety, and performance.
  • Coordinate between design teams to resolve technical issues, discrepancies, or conflicts arising from differing design approaches or construction methodologies.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of integrated design documentation, ensuring that all necessary reports, drawings, and specifications are up to date, comprehensive, and properly archived.
  • Prepare regular design progress reports and updates for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and milestones.
  • Ensure that design documentation is fully aligned with project contracts, including scope, timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
  • Communicate design progress and integration efforts to key stakeholders, including clients, senior management, and regulatory bodies.
  • Present design integration strategies, technical solutions, and updates at project meetings, ensuring stakeholders are informed and aligned on project objectives and goals.
  • Ensure that design-related issues or changes are effectively communicated to all parties involved, minimizing misunderstandings and ensuring alignment.
  • Ensure that sustainability and environmental considerations are integrated into the design process, working with the design teams to incorporate energy-efficient, green building solutions where appropriate.
  • Encourage innovative design solutions that support project goals, including cost savings, operational efficiency, and cutting-edge technologies.
  • Ensure the design meets applicable sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM) and incorporates resilient, long-lasting materials and systems.
  • Monitor and manage the design integration budget, ensuring all disciplines remain within financial constraints while meeting design requirements.
  • Optimize resource allocation to support timely completion of design tasks, minimizing delays while maintaining a high standard of work.
  • Work closely with project managers to forecast and allocate resources to meet project demands.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer (CEng), LEED AP, Project Management Professional (PMP)) are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in design integration or project management, with significant experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, especially in airports, transportation hubs, or commercial facilities.
  • Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary design teams and integrating complex design requirements across various disciplines.
  • Expertise in project management, design coordination, and integration, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong knowledge of design coordination processes, BIM (Building Information Modeling), and integrated project delivery methods.
  • Excellent understanding of engineering principles, design documentation standards, and construction processes.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and foster collaboration
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities, particularly in managing design conflicts and risks
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant construction codes, standards, and regulatory requirements for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • LEED AP or other sustainability-related certifications.
  • Familiarity with Agile Project Management methodologies and tools.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with airport design and construction processes, including integration of specialized systems such as security systems, BMS, and HVAC.
  • Familiarity with complex multi-disciplinary projects and their integration requirements, particularly in highly regulated environments like airports.
  • Expertise in BIM and CAD tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD).
