Job Description:

Parsons is seeking an experienced Civil Design Manager to join our team, supporting a major freight rail infrastructure program.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Manage, review, and validate civil engineering design packages related to rail infrastructure, including track alignment, platforms, structures, bridges, tunnels, earthworks, drainage, utilities, and supporting infrastructure.

  • Lead technical coordination among civil, structural, geotechnical, systems, and construction teams to ensure fully integrated designs.

  • Ensure designs comply with project specifications, rail standards, safety requirements, and applicable engineering codes, with consideration for freight rail operations and operational constraints.

  • Provide technical leadership to design consultants, including review of deliverables, design reports, drawings, calculations, and BIM models.

  • Manage design schedules, milestones, and deliverables to align with overall project timelines.

  • Coordinate design review workshops, technical meetings, and interdisciplinary interface sessions.

  • Identify and mitigate design risks, clashes, and constructability issues early in the design process.

  • Support value engineering, optimization initiatives, and design change management processes.

  • Prepare and present technical reports, design status updates, and recommendations to senior management.

  • Facilitate stakeholder coordination related to design approvals, NOCs, permitting, and regulatory submissions, including rail authorities and operators.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in civil design for major infrastructure projects, including rail or freight rail programs.

  • Experience as a Civil Design Manager (or equivalent role) on at least one major project of similar size and complexity.

  • Demonstrated leadership in managing multidisciplinary civil design teams.

  • Strong background in rail, transportation, or large-scale civil engineering design.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Strong technical expertise in civil and structural design for rail infrastructure.

  • Proficiency in using and reviewing engineering design software and BIM platforms.

  • Effective leadership and communication skills for managing internal and external design teams.

  • Strong analytical, coordination, and problem-solving abilities, particularly in resolving multidisciplinary design interfaces.
