Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Traffic Signal Systems Expert to join our team! In this role you will provide strategic leadership, integrate advanced ITS technologies, engage with stakeholders, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee quality control processes for high-impact transportation safety projects. The Traffic Signal Systems Expert will serve as a core technical leader within the Traffic Control Center (TCC), supporting real-time signal operations, traffic management strategies, and system performance review. This role focuses on the review, evaluation, and guidance of traffic signal design and operations, training of TCC operators, and the use of Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) tools.

What You'll Be Doing: 

• Traffic Signal Design review and Programming: Design and program traffic signal systems to support optimized traffic flow and ensure safety. 

• System Integration and Troubleshooting: Integrate signal systems with other ITS components, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system reliability. 

• Maintenance Support: Provide technical support for signal maintenance activities, ensuring that systems remain operational and effective. 

• Data Collection and Analysis: Monitor and analyze traffic data to identify areas for signal optimization and improvement. 

• Technical Documentation: Prepare documentation, including system design diagrams, programming instructions, and maintenance guides. 

• Provide expert technical guidance within the TCC on traffic signal operations, including daily monitoring, incident response, and event management.  

• Review and evaluate traffic signal timing plans, coordination strategies, and adaptive system proposals prepared by consultants, contractors, or city staff.  

• Support and train TCC operators in the effective use of ATMS/ITS tools and interpretation of system performance data.  

• Monitor network-wide signal operations using real-time dashboards and performance indicators; identify trends and recommend operational improvements.  

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, field technicians, contractors, and Client representatives, to ensure integration and continuous improvement of traffic management strategies.  

• Develop and refine operational guidelines, standard operating procedures, and training materials for use within the TCC.  

• Facilitate clear communication between the TCC and external partners, supporting prompt and effective responses to incidents and planned events.  

• Support quality assurance activities and compliance with company standards and policies. 

What Required Skills You'll Bring: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field. 

• Minimum 15+ years of specialized experience with traffic signal systems, including system design, programming, and maintenance. 

• Strong knowledge of traffic signal hardware, software, and control systems. 

• Advanced knowledge of adaptive signal systems. 

• Experience with multiple signal control platforms. 

• Proficiency in traffic signal software (e.g., SYNCHRO, SIDRA, Trafficware). 

• Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail. 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is required. 

What Desired Skills You'll Bring: 

• Familiarity with traffic signal controller software 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team is preferred. 

• Communication skills in Arabic are preferred.
