Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Testing and Commissioning – Controls Lead to join our team! In this role you will get to oversee the testing and commissioning of all control systems within airport infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet performance standards and integrate seamlessly with other airport systems. The role requires extensive technical expertise in control systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead teams in a high-pressure environment to ensure smooth system transitions and project success
What You'll be Doing;
- Lead the testing and commissioning of all control systems, including BMS, HVAC control systems, lighting control, fire alarm systems, and other automated control systems within the airport infrastructure project.
- Ensure that all control systems are tested, validated, and fully integrated into the larger airport systems, ensuring they meet the design specifications and operational requirements.
- Develop detailed testing and commissioning plans for control systems, in alignment with the overall project schedule and milestones.
- Coordinate with project teams, including electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers, to ensure the smooth execution of testing and commissioning activities.
- Schedule and oversee the activities of commissioning engineers, subcontractors, and vendors involved in the testing and commissioning of control systems.
- Ensure that all control systems are properly integrated with other airport systems (e.g., security, lighting, HVAC) and that they function seamlessly together.
- Verify system performance by conducting functional testing, end-to-end system tests, and system integration tests, ensuring all systems operate as intended.
- Monitor the quality of testing and commissioning activities for control systems, ensuring compliance with relevant technical standards, specifications, and safety requirements.
- Ensure that all systems meet regulatory and airport-specific standards, such as those set by the FAA, ICAO, or other governing bodies.
- Establish and enforce quality control procedures throughout the testing and commissioning process.
- Identify and resolve any issues or deficiencies that arise during testing and commissioning, including control system malfunctions or integration issues.
- Provide technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly and efficiently to avoid project delays.
- Work closely with vendors and contractors to ensure timely solutions for any technical challenges.
- Ensure all testing and commissioning activities are accurately documented, including test results, compliance records, certificates, and reports.
- Maintain detailed logs of commissioning activities, issues, resolutions, and any modifications made during the process.
- Provide regular progress reports on testing and commissioning status, highlighting milestones, risks, and critical issues.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all testing and commissioning matters related to control systems, providing updates and technical support to project stakeholders, including management, clients, and contractors.
- Facilitate communication between internal teams, external vendors, and contractors to ensure coordination of activities and resolve any conflicts.
- Oversee the training of operational staff on the proper use and maintenance of control systems once they are fully commissioned.
- Ensure smooth handover of control systems to the client or operational team, providing them with all necessary documentation, including user manuals and maintenance procedures.
What Required Skills You'll Bring;
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation, or a related field. Relevant certifications or postgraduate qualifications in project management or control systems are a plus.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in testing and commissioning of control systems, with at least 3 years in the airport or large-scale infrastructure sector.
- Proven experience in commissioning control systems, such as BMS, HVAC, lighting control systems, fire alarm systems, and other automated systems.
- Strong technical expertise in control systems, automation, and integrated systems testing.
- In-depth understanding of building automation, control systems, and their integration with other systems.
- Familiarity with airport-specific control system requirements and operational standards.
- Strong knowledge of testing and commissioning procedures and techniques for control systems.
- Proficient in using control system software (e.g., Tridium, Siemens, Honeywell, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex control system issues.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills to manage teams and coordinate with stakeholders.
- Certification in Building Automation Systems (BAS) or similar fields.
- Experience with integrated building management software (e.g., Honeywell Building Management, Siemens Desigo, Tridium, etc.).
- Knowledge of airport operational standards and regulatory requirements.
- Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is an advantage.
