Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Temporary Works Coordinator / Field Engineer to support the planning, design, and management of temporary works on construction and logistics projects.
This role will be responsible for ensuring the efficient implementation of temporary works solutions, including scaffolding, shoring, and formwork, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, particularly in the temporary works field, with a focus on coordinating activities on-site to maintain project timelines and budget.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Temporary Works Planning and Coordination:
Assist in the planning and design of temporary works systems, including scaffolding, shoring, and formwork, in collaboration with senior engineers.
Coordinate with project teams to ensure that temporary works align with project needs and schedules.
Ensure that temporary works solutions are practical, cost-effective, and compliant with safety regulations.
On-Site Supervision and Management:
Oversee the installation and dismantling of temporary works on-site, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
Work directly with contractors and site personnel to manage daily operations and resolve any issues related to temporary works.
Monitor the progress of temporary works installation and provide regular updates to the project manager.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure that all temporary works activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
Conduct regular inspections and safety checks on temporary works to identify potential risks and implement corrective actions.
Perform risk assessments for temporary works and ensure safe systems of work are followed on-site.
Project Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of temporary works designs, permits, and installation activities.
Prepare and submit daily or weekly reports on the status of temporary works and any challenges encountered on-site.
Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and ensure that all records are up to date and compliant with industry standards.
Collaboration and Communication:
Liaise between the field teams, engineers, and project managers to ensure smooth communication and coordination of temporary works activities.
Work closely with external contractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and resources required for temporary works.
Address any technical queries or concerns related to temporary works and provide guidance as needed.
Quality Assurance:
Assist in ensuring that all temporary works are constructed and maintained according to project specifications, drawings, and safety standards.
Conduct quality control checks and inspections to verify the condition and integrity of temporary works systems on-site.
Ensure that any deviations from the plan are addressed promptly and reported to the project manager.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Education:
A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Certifications in temporary works, construction safety, or similar areas are a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, civil engineering, or temporary works coordination.
Hands-on experience with temporary works systems such as scaffolding, formwork, and shoring.
Experience in managing and coordinating activities on construction sites, particularly in logistics or infrastructure projects.
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong technical knowledge of temporary works and their application in construction and logistics.
Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
Familiarity with construction safety standards and risk management processes.
Proficiency with tools such as AutoCAD, MS Project, or other construction management software.
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
Certifications in Temporary Works Coordination or Safety Management (e.g., SSSTS, SMSTS, IOSH).
Experience with large-scale or complex construction projects.
Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including site workers, engineers, and external contractors.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making on-site.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing project demands
