Job Description:

Parsons is seeking a Technical Research Administrative Support Specialist to support research-program operations for NMRC BDRD. This position will provide scientific administrative, documentation, logistics, reporting, travel, procurement, and sample-shipping support to multidisciplinary infectious-disease and bioinformatics research teams.

The successful candidate will coordinate program information and administrative activities while maintaining accurate records and complying with Government research, security, privacy, travel, and logistics requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide administrative support for genomics, bioinformatics, microbiology, and infectious-disease research projects.
  • Track project actions, milestones, deliverables, issues, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and coordinate monthly technical and cost-status reports.
  • Maintain organized electronic records, correspondence, project files, and research-support documentation.
  • Assist with travel requests, preapprovals, trip documentation, and invoice-support records.
  • Coordinate procurement documentation for laboratory supplies, equipment, training, and other direct costs.
  • Track research supplies, equipment, shipments, and related approvals.
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipment of research samples and materials in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Support preparation and formatting of protocols, SOPs, technical reports, presentations, and meeting materials.
  • Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, record action items, and monitor follow-up activities.
  • Coordinate with scientific personnel, program management, security, travel, contracting, and logistics stakeholders.
  • Protect sensitive, proprietary, research, privacy, and Government information.
  • Support CONUS or OCONUS activities and travel when required.
  • Perform only authorized non-personal support functions and refer inherently governmental decisions to Government personnel.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or management discipline.
  • Experience administering laboratory research programs or providing research-administration support.
  • Experience performing administrative duties in support of scientific research.
  • Strong organizational, written communication, records-management, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to track multiple actions, deadlines, reports, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Experience shipping samples to overseas locations or the ability to learn applicable processes quickly.
  • Foundational understanding of scientific principles sufficient to support laboratory research programs.
  • Availability for domestic and international travel lasting up to two to four weeks.
  • U.S. citizenship due to federal contract requirements.
  • Ability to satisfy applicable background investigation, CAC, facility-access, and system-access requirements.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring

  • Experience supporting NMRC, Navy Medicine, DoD, or another federal research organization.
  • Experience with international biological-sample shipping, cold chain, customs documentation, or chain of custody.
  • Experience supporting laboratory procurements, ODCs, travel, and cost reporting.
  • Experience with infectious-disease, genomics, or bioinformatics programs.
  • Familiarity with Government records-management, privacy, and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Experience coordinating human-subject or animal-use research documentation.
  • Experience preparing scientific reports, SOPs, presentations, and meeting materials.
  • Current Government facility or system access.

Compliance Note

This position is expected to be primarily on-site at Fort Detrick and is contingent upon contract award. The PWS does not expressly require a Secret clearance for this labor category. Applicable background investigation, CAC, system-access, privacy, cybersecurity, and sample-shipping requirements will apply. Occasional schedule adjustments may be required for time-sensitive experiments, sample processing, field activities, or emerging mission needs.

Salary Range: $22.93 - $40.14
