Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Stormwater, Irrigation, and Landscaping Lead  to join our team! In this role you will oversee the review and updates of standards and specifications related to stormwater management, irrigation systems, and landscaping. This role will ensure that all updates promote sustainable water management, environmental preservation, and aesthetic excellence in Abu Dhabi’s infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing, civil or environmental engineering, and landscape design, with a proven ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams and produce high-quality documentation.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead the development and implementation of design standards for stormwater, irrigation, and landscaping projects.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, hydrologists, landscape architects, and environmental planners, to ensure alignment with project goals and regulatory requirements.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders regarding design standards and technical documentation.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members or contributors involved in documentation and design processes.

  • Review and analyze existing standards and specifications for stormwater management, irrigation systems, and landscaping.

  • Conduct gap analyses to identify areas for improvement in water management, irrigation efficiency, and landscaping practices.

  • Benchmark local standards against GCC and best international practices to propose updates and enhancements.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to finalize modifications and updates to stormwater, irrigation, and landscaping-related documents.

  • Ensure that proposed updates incorporate sustainable practices, including water conservation and climate-resilient landscaping.

  • Provide technical expertise during stakeholder meetings and workshops on stormwater, irrigation, and landscaping matters.

  • Stay informed about the latest trends, technologies, and regulatory changes in stormwater management, irrigation systems, and landscaping.

  • Conduct research to identify innovative and sustainable practices, such as Low Impact Development (LID), green infrastructure, and water-efficient landscaping techniques.

  • Analyze engineering drawings, schematics, and technical data to ensure accuracy and relevance in documentation.

  • Review and edit technical documents for accuracy, clarity, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards.

  • Conduct periodic audits of design standards and documentation to ensure they remain current and effective.

  • Ensure all landscaping and irrigation designs meet environmental sustainability goals and water conservation requirements.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of landscaping plans that integrate stormwater management and irrigation systems.

  • Ensure landscaping designs prioritize sustainability, native plant selection, erosion control, and aesthetic appeal.

  • Collaborate with landscape architects and contractors to ensure designs are executed according to established standards.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Proven 10 years experience in stormwater management, irrigation systems, and landscaping design.

  • Strong understanding of international standards and best practices for water management and landscaping.

  • Familiarity with Abu Dhabi’s local regulations and standards is an advantage.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing, engineering, or environmental sciences, with expertise in stormwater and irrigation design standards. This role requires the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as EPA stormwater regulations, local water management codes, and irrigation standards.

  • Experience with sustainable design practices, including Low Impact Development (LID) and green infrastructure.

  • Certification in technical writing or a related field is a plus.
