Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Special Systems Lead to join our team! In this role you will get to design, implementation, and optimization of essential special systems that support airport operations.
This includes security, fire safety, baggage handling, and communication systems, all while ensuring safety, functionality, and regulatory compliance in a high-demand airport environment .
What You'll be Doing:
Lead the design and integration of specialized systems such as security systems (CCTV, access control), fire detection, baggage handling, communication systems, and other critical infrastructure systems.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure these systems meet airport-specific operational requirements, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Oversee the planning, execution, and management of special systems installation for airport infrastructure projects.
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other project teams to ensure timely delivery, quality control, and system integration with other airport infrastructure.
Ensure that the installation and commissioning of special systems meet all functional, operational, and regulatory requirements.
Lead the testing and commissioning of special systems to ensure they are fully functional and compliant with all performance specifications.
Optimize system performance through continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and adjustments, ensuring minimal downtime and operational disruptions.
Work closely with airport operations teams to ensure that specialized systems are aligned with operational needs and enhance overall airport efficiency, security, and passenger experience.
Address any challenges related to special systems and ensure their integration into the overall airport management system.
Ensure that all special systems comply with local, national, and international safety standards and regulations (e.g., fire safety codes, security standards, etc.).
Conduct risk assessments and lead efforts to identify and mitigate potential issues related to system safety and functionality.
Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for special systems, including design specifications, system configurations, testing results, and regulatory compliance records.
Provide regular updates and reports on the status of special systems to senior management and key stakeholders.
Lead a team of special systems engineers, technicians, and specialists, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the highest standards of system design and implementation.
Ensure team members are up-to-date with the latest technologies, industry best practices, and relevant regulations.
Promote the use of sustainable and energy-efficient solutions in the design and implementation of special systems.
Stay informed on emerging technologies and innovations in special systems and implement new solutions to enhance airport operations.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree or relevant certifications preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in special systems management, with at least 3 years in the airport or transportation infrastructure sector
Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing critical systems such as security, fire detection, baggage handling, and communication systems.
In-depth knowledge of special systems, including security systems (CCTV, access control), fire detection, baggage handling systems, and communication technologies
Strong understanding of the integration of these systems into broader airport infrastructure.
Expertise in project management and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with relevant local, national, and international safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in a timely manner.
Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage teams and engage stakeholders effectively.
Certification in Project Management (PMP or equivalent).
Experience in advanced security systems, fire alarm systems, and airport-specific technologies.
Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and other airport-specific special systems.
Experience with sustainable and energy-efficient technologies in special systems design.
