Parsons is looking for a highly skilled Senior Safety Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the safety management systems on-site, ensuring that all construction activities are executed in compliance with safety regulations, standards, and best practices, will monitor, enforce, and improve safety protocols to minimize risk and maintain a safe working environment for all project personnel, with a specific focus on drainage, sewerage, surface, and ground water networks projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Developing, implementing, and overseeing safety management plans for drainage, sewerage, surface, and ground water networks projects to ensure the health and safety of all workers and stakeholders on-site.
  • Conducting regular safety audits and inspections specific to sewerage and water network projects, identifying potential hazards, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and international safety regulations.
  • Providing leadership and guidance on all aspects of safety management, including risk assessment, accident prevention, and emergency response planning, particularly for sewerage and underground works.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards, ensuring that safety equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other safety protocols are properly implemented and maintained on sewerage, surface, and ground water network projects.
  • Providing safety training and awareness sessions for project staff and workers to promote a safety-conscious culture, especially in relation to trenching, excavation, and other water and sewerage-related hazards.
  • Investigating accidents and incidents, providing reports, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence, with a focus on risks specific to sewerage, surface, and ground water network construction.
  • Preparing and maintaining safety documentation, including safety reports, risk assessments, incident investigations, and site safety records for drainage, sewerage, and water network projects.
  • Coordinating with project teams to ensure the integration of safety protocols specific to sewerage, drainage, and water network construction activities, including trenching, dewatering, excavation, and pipe installation.
  • Promoting safety culture through regular communication with all project teams and stakeholders, emphasizing the unique safety challenges associated with sewerage, surface, and ground water network works.
  • Working with the project management team to address any safety concerns related to sewerage, surface, and ground water network projects, including excavation safety, ground stability, and environmental hazards.
  • Monitoring subcontractors and vendors to ensure their safety standards align with the project's overall safety management plan, particularly for sewerage and water network operations.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in safety management or engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior safety role within construction or engineering projects, specifically in sewerage, surface, and ground water networks.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and guidelines (local, state, and international), especially related to sewerage, drainage works, and water network systems.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring safety plans for large-scale sewerage and water network projects, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Proven track record in conducting safety audits and inspections on sewerage and water network projects, identifying potential hazards and managing drainage and sewerage-related risks.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis specific to sewerage, surface, and ground water network construction, focusing on risks such as trench collapse, confined spaces, and water-related hazards.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster a safety-conscious culture on-site and within project teams.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and computer tools for report generation, tracking, and compliance documentation.
  • Experience in managing sewerage, surface, and ground water networks projects, including stormwater systems, sewerage networks, and underground water distribution.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent in health and safety management would be advantageous.
  • Experience working in the Gulf region and knowledge of local regulations and standards related to safety in sewerage, drainage, and underground water network projects.
  • Advanced skills in safety risk assessment for sewerage and water network construction, including trenching, excavation, and dewatering operations.
  • Experience with emergency response planning and managing site-wide emergency drills and procedures specific to sewerage, drainage, and water network works.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders, including contractors and subcontractors, to ensure a consistent safety culture across all levels of the project.
  • Knowledge of environmental health and safety issues, with an emphasis on sewerage, stormwater management, and water network systems.
  • Strong experience in using technology tools to enhance safety performance, including mobile safety apps, real-time monitoring, and safety management software, particularly in relation to sewerage and water network projects.
