Job Description:

Senior Resident Engineer (Roads/Bridges)

Abu Dhabi, UAE


Parsons is seeking a highly experienced Senior Resident Engineer to join our team in Abu Dhabi!

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Act as the Engineer and report directly to the Employer during construction.

  • Communicate with the contractor and ensure compliance with contract requirements.

  • Issue directives to the contractor to correct non-compliance in work, materials, or equipment.

  • Lead and monitor the performance of the construction supervision team (site engineers, inspectors, surveyors).

  • Guide and assist the team in delivering roadworks and associated infrastructure.

  • Advise the Employer on variations, claims, and adjustments to contractor accounts.

  • Recommend contractor payments and assist with claims/variation orders.

  • Ensure all construction activities meet contract specifications and quality standards.

  • Advise on roadworks, utility diversions, traffic management, and other related works.

  • Maintain accurate site records, daily reports, and diaries.

  • Review and approve construction drawings, material submissions, and method statements.

  • Prepare progress reports and compare actual vs. planned progress.

  • Coordinate with design engineers, contractor, client/PMC, and authorities.

  • Ensure resource scheduling aligns with project timelines and quality standards.

  • Oversee the implementation of safety procedures on-site.

  • Report accidents, near-misses, and ensure HSE compliance.

  • Chair regular site meetings and ensure effective communication among stakeholders.

  • Facilitate prompt exchange of correspondence and approvals.

  • Address and resolve construction or technical issues.

  • Coordinate with the design office to resolve design or site-related conflicts.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution

  • Minimum 15 years post graduate experience in supervision, and construction management of major roads and bridges projects.

  • Demonstrable experience in all aspects of supervision on major infrastructure projects preferably in the Gulf region.

  • Emphasis on Quality Assurance Specifications and Statistical Quality Control.

  • Should be able to review and justify the material submissions analyze laboratory and technical reports, carry out acceptance sampling plans, testing and quality measures, ensuring the compliance with the project’s Specifications.

  • Have a sound knowledge about contractual relationships.

  • Must be fully computer literate and able to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, etc. and any project specific engineering and construction relevant software.

  • Requires excellent written and oral communication and leadership skills
