Job Description:

Parsons has an immediate opening for a Senior Project Manager within our Rail & Transit Solutions Canada West division. This role involves managing and delivering complex infrastructure projects, specifically within the rail and transit sector, ensuring they meet budget, schedule, client satisfaction, and quality standards. You will be responsible for the scope development, scope management, and commercial performance of the project to meet project goals and objectives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This project is located in Vancouver, BC., and Work mode: Hybrid (70% on-site – 30% remote)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide project management leadership throughout the project life cycle, including preliminary design, feasibility studies, detailed design and construction for large-scale transit projects.
  • Review preliminary and detailed design drawings, supporting report-writing and proposal writing.
  • Actively respond to client needs and maintain communication, including stakeholder and public engagements.
  • Prepare monthly project status reports and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist with new work proposals, including teaming arrangements, budget estimates, and schedules.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, costs, and quality assurance, overseeing the establishment of Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other required documents.
  • Work with other managers, project engineers, discipline leads, and sub-consultants to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for various project elements.
  • Revise and execute action plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or accommodate significant changes to the scope of work.
  • Oversee contractors performing work in the field for the collection of due diligence and construction services.
  • Create integrated project schedules and maintain risk registers, monitoring and providing cost control management.
  • Build and maintain robust stakeholder relationships to meet project objectives, including leading consultation sessions.
  • Mentor and supervise staff, fostering a client-focused and collaborative team environment.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives, such as reviewing project management policies and processes, and refining project delivery methods to meet client requirements.
  • Assist with internal project management controls to manage client needs.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the project delivery sector, leveraging industry knowledge and relationships to expand our client base in the Canada West region.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop comprehensive proposals that effectively communicate our capabilities and value proposition to potential clients, ensuring alignment with client needs and expectations.
  • Lead and support meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems, Communication or Electronics Engineering or a related field; a Professional Engineering License in British Columbia is required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of related work experience in the rail and transit consulting and design sector.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies, with a PMP designation being an asset.
  • Proficiency in systems engineering methodologies, with INCOSE designation being an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of industry practices and regulations, with experience in alternate project delivery methods (P3, DB) is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage interdisciplinary teams and complex projects.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic, with a strong desire to succeed.

Salary Range:

$113,100 - $210,200
