Job Description:

Parsons is now open to applications for an experienced Senior Project Bridge Engineer in the Kansas City area to join our actively growing team on current and upcoming projects, including our most recent KDOT US69 win!

This role will provide you with the unique opportunity to join a highly-skilled, collaborative, and flexible, team which will allow you to expand in your technical and professional expertise on major projects that will have a tangible impact on the infrastructure in your very own community!

What You'll Be Doing:

Management

  • Review and approve discipline staffing budget estimates and staffing assignment schedules on each project

  • If assigned to a major program, manage all specific engineering and design efforts for program’s structural discipline

  • Coordinate structural discipline staffing requirements for the program

  • Monitor the quality and progress of the discipline on each project, ensuring that production requirements are satisfied.

  • Work closely with Project Managers and Task Leads to resolve any existing or potential issues (including staffing, quality, schedule , or productivity)

  • Establish standards/procedures manuals and recommend improvements to procedures

  • Ensure performance within overhead budgets authorized for the discipline / Actively participate in and promotes the Quality Improvement Program / May head a committee within the discipline, striving to motivate and educate the assigned personnel

Personnel

  • ​Maintain appropriate staffing level, including temporary personnel, as necessary (+ review and approve staff forecasting reports)

  • Help recruit, interview, and evaluate prospective employees. 

  • Mentor, conduct performance evaluations, and counsel employees, take corrective actions (as necessary), and help approve salary adjustments and terminations 

  • Ensure that new employees receive orientation on company policies and procedures

Technical

  • Review work (drawings, calculations, reports, specifications, schedules, etc.) produced to ensure that applicable codes, standards, and procedures are followed and that quality is acceptable.  Monitors productivity and technical proficiency of assigned technical personnel, and makes reassignments as project needs develop. Provides training and development opportunities for assigned personnel.

  • Support pre-contract and business development efforts as required, serving as technical consultant. Ensures client criteria and scope are met by all engineering disciplines / Expedite distribution of action items following discussions/meetings with the client and Project Manager / Strive to understand the client's business goals and formulates action plans to enhance the project work and delivery methods

  • Prepare technical reports and documentation of activity for the client and project management / Act as Project Manager's deputy for certain activities, such as attending meetings in his/her absence, etc.

  • Obtain, analyze, and circulate technical and contractual information to project disciplines / Reviews and coordinates change orders and supplementals  

  • Notify project management and other affected personnel of all changes /Participates regularly in decision-making meetings with the client and project management

What Required Skills/Qualifications You'll Bring:

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or related field) is required

  • At least 12 years or more experience with bridge engineering design is required.

  • Potential to perform in a lead capacity

What Preferred Skills/Qualifications You'll Bring:

  • A Master’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering is highly preferred

  • PE or SE Registration is highly preferred for this role

Salary Range: 

$100,400.00 - $175,700.00
