Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented MEP Senior Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to oversee the design, coordination, and implementation of MEP systems for large infrastructure projects. This role demands a highly technical individual with strong project management skills, a deep understanding of MEP systems, and experience working on large-scale projects. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a focus on quality, safety, sustainability, and client satisfaction.
What You’ll Be Doing:
MEP Design and Planning:
Lead and oversee the design and planning of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for large infrastructure projects.
Develop MEP system specifications and design solutions in collaboration with the design team and other engineering disciplines.
Conduct feasibility studies to ensure that MEP designs are cost-effective, sustainable, and meet the technical and environmental requirements.
Coordination and Integration:
Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines to ensure smooth integration of MEP systems within the overall project design.
Ensure that all MEP systems are coordinated with other building systems and infrastructure, minimizing conflicts during construction.
Resolve design conflicts and interface issues between MEP systems and other project elements.
Project Management and Supervision:
Oversee the execution of MEP works during construction, ensuring that designs are followed, work is performed in compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources related to MEP aspects of the project.
Provide leadership and technical guidance to MEP engineering teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
Monitor and report on project progress to senior management, ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets.
Quality Control and Compliance:
Ensure that all MEP systems are designed, installed, and tested in accordance with local building codes, standards, and regulations.
Monitor work during construction to ensure compliance with the project design and contract specifications.
Perform regular site inspections to verify quality and safety standards are being met.
Lead testing and commissioning of MEP systems to ensure systems are fully functional upon project completion.
Sustainability and Energy Efficiency:
Promote sustainable and energy-efficient practices in the design and execution of MEP systems.
Ensure that MEP designs meet or exceed sustainability goals, energy efficiency requirements, and environmental regulations.
Evaluate the performance of MEP systems post-installation, recommending improvements where necessary.
Risk Management:
Identify potential risks in MEP designs and construction processes, developing mitigation strategies.
Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans for unforeseen issues.
Address any technical issues promptly, ensuring minimal project delays.
Client Liaison and Reporting:
Maintain regular communication with clients, providing technical updates, progress reports, and ensuring satisfaction with the MEP design and execution.
Lead meetings with clients and stakeholders to discuss project progress, changes, and technical requirements.
Provide expert advice to clients on MEP-related matters, addressing concerns and offering solutions.
Mentorship and Team Development:
Mentor and train junior MEP engineers, ensuring that team members are continuously developing their technical skills and project management abilities.
Foster a collaborative work environment within the MEP team, encouraging knowledge sharing and best practices.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering. A Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer) is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in MEP engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role in large infrastructure projects.
Proven experience in designing, coordinating, and managing MEP systems for large-scale commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects.
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and their integration within building infrastructure.
Skills & Knowledge:
Deep understanding of MEP systems design, implementation, and commissioning.
Proficient in MEP design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, HAP, etc.).
Knowledge of local building codes, standards, and regulations related to MEP systems.
Strong project management skills, with experience managing large teams and delivering projects on time and within budget.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to resolve design or construction challenges.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
Certifications: Professional certifications such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) or PMP (Project Management Professional) would be an advantage.
Industry Knowledge: Experience working with large-scale infrastructure projects such as transportation systems, urban developments, or government facilities.
Sustainability Expertise: In-depth knowledge of sustainable MEP practices and energy-efficient technologies.
Leadership Experience: Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
