Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will lead mechanical engineering design and integration for a Metro expansion project, ensuring the successful delivery of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical systems across all project stages. You will provide technical expertise, system analysis, and design oversight, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to meet project requirements. This role requires extensive experience in rail and metro infrastructure projects, particularly within the UAE or GCC region.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Lead the design, specification, and integration of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements.

• Develop mechanical engineering solutions from feasibility studies and concept design through to preliminary and detailed design, tender preparation, and construction support.

• Conduct engineering calculations, including heat load assessments, hydraulic modeling, and system performance analysis, to optimize system efficiency and sustainability.

• Oversee contractor submissions, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements.

• Prepare and review technical specifications, reports, equipment data sheets, and design drawings, ensuring alignment with project objectives.

• Provide technical input and interface management across multiple disciplines, coordinating with civil, electrical, and rail systems teams.

• Support tender preparation and evaluation, including reviewing mechanical system requirements and contractor qualifications.

• Monitor construction and installation progress, addressing technical queries and ensuring quality control.

• Assist with testing, commissioning, and integration of mechanical systems to ensure seamless operation within the metro infrastructure.

• Ensure compliance with applicable standards, international building codes (NFPA, ASHRAE), and safety regulations.

• Identify and mitigate mechanical system risks, providing innovative solutions to enhance system reliability and efficiency.

• Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, fostering technical excellence within the team.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc./B.Eng.).

• 15 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering for metro, railway, or large-scale infrastructure projects.

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and drainage systems within transport infrastructure.

• Experience working on rail transit projects in the UAE or GCC region.

• Proficiency in mechanical design software, including Carrier HAP, AFT Fathom, and other relevant engineering tools.

• Thorough understanding of industry standards (NFPA, ASHRAE) and regulatory codes applicable to metro infrastructure.

• Strong problem-solving and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines.

• Experience in contractor management, design reviews, and construction supervision.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for client and stakeholder engagement.
