Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our airport construction program team. The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for completing a wide variety of difficult engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within one discipline. The Engineer at this level is a fully qualified professional, proficient in the utilization of most engineering theories and practices. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/ CAD (computer aided design) applications. Under the direction of the Engineering Manager or MEP Lead will support the construction supervision team as required, specifically related to airport infrastructure works.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Performs complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately.
  • Independently develops and/or supervises production of Engineering Mechanical HVAC (wet and dry side) and plumbing Contract Documents that meet customer quality requirements.
  • Ability to manage a mechanical project from inception through completion, including defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.
  • Extracts engineering information from CAD drawings.
  • Prepares and/or reviews standard Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
  • Ability to complete a variety of assignments such as prepare and/or review Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing drawings, technical construction specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes, utilizing CAE/CAD as applicable.
  • Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
  • Prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
  • Reviews subcontractor and supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.
  • Prepares and issues Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
  • Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
  • May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
  • May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert (SME) on all mechanical systems.
  • Design the installation process of the temporary units, ductwork remodel, controls, building management system, all for operational facilities.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from a recognized university is required.
  • 8+ years of related work experience preferably in aviation or major infrastructure construction projects.
  • Professional Engineering License is preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of design and construction principles and application of ICAO/ FAA standards and methods is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with utility systems: steam, chilled water, sanitary, plumbing, fluid and heat transfer systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials science, and engineering principles.
  • Capable of adapting to demanding project conditions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Computer literate.
