Senior Material Engineer

Parsons is looking for an experienced Senior Material Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will oversee and manage all aspects of material engineering for large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. You will play a critical role in material selection, testing, and quality assurance to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality projects.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Oversee the selection, testing, and approval of construction materials to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Review and approve material submittals, specifications, and test reports provided by contractors and suppliers.
- Conduct inspections and audits of material production facilities, ensuring adherence to quality control procedures.
- Supervise and coordinate laboratory and field testing of materials, including concrete, asphalt, soil, aggregates, and other construction materials.
- Provide technical guidance on material-related issues, including durability, sustainability, and performance.
- Collaborate with design and construction teams to resolve material-related challenges and ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Prepare detailed material reports, including test results, compliance assessments, and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with local and international standards, codes, and regulations related to construction materials.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of materials during construction and post-construction phases.
- Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to address material-related concerns and ensure timely delivery of approved materials.
- Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures for materials used in the project.
- Stay updated on advancements in material technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Material Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 14 years of experience in material engineering, with a proven track record in large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, including concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates.
- Proficiency in material testing standards and procedures (e.g., ASTM, AASHTO, BS, or equivalent).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and engage with stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address material-related challenges effectively.
- Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) practices for construction materials.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Experience working in the Middle East or GCC region is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of sustainable and innovative construction materials.
- Proficiency in material testing software and tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
