Senior Engineer Sustanability/Estidama
Abu Dhabi, UAE
A Senior Engineer - Sustainability/Estidama is responsible for ensuring that construction projects are designed, executed, and operated in an environmentally sustainable manner. They focus on implementing sustainability principles, achieving green building certifications (such as Estidama, LEED, or equivalent), and promoting energy efficiency, resource conservation, and environmental stewardship.
What You'll Be Doing:
Develop and implement sustainability strategies and frameworks for the project in alignment with Estidama (Pearl Rating System) or other green building certification requirements.
Ensure that sustainability principles are integrated into the project from the design phase through construction and operation.
Ensure that the project complies with Estidama requirements, including achieving the targeted Pearl Rating
Coordinate with regulatory authorities to obtain necessary approvals and certifications.
Review architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical designs to ensure compliance with sustainability and Estidama requirements.
Provide technical input to optimize designs for energy efficiency, water conservation, and material sustainability.
Collaborate with design consultants, architects, and engineers to incorporate sustainable solutions into the project.
Develop strategies for water conservation, such as efficient plumbing fixtures, greywater recycling, and irrigation systems.
Develop and implement a construction waste management plan to minimize waste generation and maximize recycling.
Oversee the implementation of sustainable site practices, such as erosion control, biodiversity preservation, and sustainable landscaping.
Monitor and mitigate the environmental impact of construction activities, including air quality, noise, and water pollution.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
Monitor the progress of sustainability initiatives during the design, construction, and operational phases.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to energy, water, waste, and carbon emissions.
Act as the primary point of contact for sustainability-related matters with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
Provide training and awareness sessions for project teams, contractors, and workers on sustainability principles and Estidama requirements.
Identify and implement innovative sustainable solutions and technologies to enhance project performance.
Conduct research and stay updated on emerging trends, tools, and best practices in sustainability and green building.
Recommend improvements to sustainability processes and practices for future projects.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelors degree in Environmental, Sustainability, Architecture or related field
10 years minimum related experience
Extensive experience in sustainability and green building projects, particularly in achieving Estidama Pearl Ratings.
Strong understanding of sustainability principles, energy modeling, water efficiency, and green building materials.
Familiarity with Estidama guidelines, local environmental regulations, and international sustainability standards (e.g., LEED, BREEAM).
Ability to conduct energy and water performance analysis, life cycle assessments, and carbon footprint calculations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders and promote sustainability initiatives.
Familiarity with sustainability tools and software, such as IES-VE, EnergyPlus, DesignBuilder, or equivalent.
