Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Civil Inspector to join our team! In this role you will get to Install and Inspect various Mechanical and Electrical Systems on a significant Water/Wastewater Project in Southern Nevada! .

What You'll Be Doing:

  • With minimal supervision, performs the most difficult and complex inspection tasks, including assessing adherence to quality control procedures. 
  • Inspects various facets of work on the jobsite and performs continuous surveillance of assigned inspection activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications. 
  • Documents nonconformance and participates in determining appropriate resolution. 
  • Inspection activities are usually concentrated in one or more of the following areas:  soils, concrete, asphalt, utilities, architectural, steel, or mechanical.
  • Willingness to travel and/or to relocate to field sites is expected. Performs work in safe manner and is cognizant of public safety.
  • Conducts inspections for a major water utility to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications and may include any of the following:
  • Demolition of transportation facilities (roads, streets, bridges etc)
  • Construction of reservoirs, pipelines, pumping stations, roads and other associated improvements
  • Construction of underground utilities
  • Drainage work, traffic control, compliance with SWPPP requirements
  • Irrigation and planting, roadway and (curb and gutter, street, sidewalk, landscaping)
  • Installation of temporary and permanent signs and delineation
  • Installation of mechanical equipment
  • Building and facility construction and associated site development
  • Taking project photographs on a daily basis and filing them
  • Maintains quantity calculations and writes daily inspection reports.
  • Prepares daily reports and other documentation, as required.
  • Verifies that only approved materials are incorporated in the work.
  • Performs labor compliance interviews and maintains as-built plans.
  • Recognizes potential conflicts, issues and problems, and reports to supervisor with proposed solution.
  • Knowledge of trench safety and shoring as well as Call before you Dig regulations
  • Knowledge of various methods of pressure testing activities.
  • Knowledge of surface preparations, protective coating applications and quality control procedures.
  • Collects, reviews and files Certificate of Compliance, MSDS, inspection tags and other information relevant to the materials used.
  • Provides technical guidance and delegates responsibilities as appropriate to lower-level inspectors.
  • Coordinates work of subconsultants for surveying and material testing.
  • Recommends job safety improvements and participates in Program Safety effort.
  • Prepares quality control reports and recommends changes to procedures.
  • Reports on installed quantities to verify applications for payment and change order work.
  • Responds to the call backs in case of emergency at the project site.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
  • Installation of mechanical equipment, associated piping, power, controls and instrumentation.
  • Inspection of concrete structures, underground utilities and site improvements.
  • Building and facility construction and associated site development.
  • Coordinating subconsultants for survey and materials testing.
  • Advising construction management as to the status of the project / specific activities.
  • Daily reporting and filing through written reports, project photographs, et.al. to convey a clear understanding of Project happenings.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • 2-year degree in a technical discipline or construction-related field, or a high school diploma and equivalent work experience, is required. 
  • Also requires 5+ years of related experience on field projects, as well as formal certification from an independent organization, depending on type of inspection assignment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications, be totally familiar with construction-related processes related to area of assignment, and have the potential to perform in a lead capacity.
  • Knowledge of English grammar and composition, the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; to follow oral and written instructions and prepare written messages and reports.
  • Capability to perform math calculation in order to prepare engineering calculations, graphs and charts.
  • Proficiency with basic computer usage, extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project Management Software and internet search engines (like Google or equivalent) required.
  • Ability to comply with multitude of requirements as applicable to the project based on client and industry standards. Must have thorough understanding of scheduling, and the ability to review progress pay estimates and extra work bills.
  • Requires ability to climb ladders, inspect work above and below ground, and work in confined spaces. 
  • Requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs (i.e. lifting materials used for testing of concrete, AC, etc.).


What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Previous Civil Inspection experience on a similar project is preferred, but not required.

Salary Range: 

$40.05 - $70.10
