Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Baggage Handling System Engineer to join our team! In this role you will be responsible for the planning, design, and integration of baggage handling systems within an express railway environment, ensuring seamless coordination between passenger movement and baggage processing. The role will cover BHS from concept through design, procurement support, testing, and commissioning, ensuring alignment with operational requirements, rail systems, and airport interfaces where applicable. 

What You'll Be Doing:

• Lead the planning, design, and integration of Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) across all project stages, from feasibility and concept design through detailed design, D&C tender support, and delivery 

• Define technical requirements and system specifications for BHS, including capacity, throughput, reliability, security, and operational performance 

• Ensure seamless integration of BHS with rail systems, station layouts, passenger flows, and relevant airport systems and processes 

• Develop solutions for passenger and baggage planning, including segregation of checked and non-checked passengers and efficient baggage transfer processes 

• Support preparation of Design and Construct tender documentation, including BHS technical specifications, performance requirements, and interface definitions 

• Coordinate interface management between BHS and other systems including stations, rail operations, passenger information systems, and airport-related systems 

• Support Systems Engineering activities including requirements definition, verification, validation, and traceability for BHS 

• Develop and support testing and commissioning strategies for BHS, including system testing, integration testing, and operational readiness 

• Identify and manage technical risks related to BHS performance, integration, and operational constraints, and implement mitigation measures 

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, airport authorities, operators, and contractors to ensure alignment with operational and regulatory requirements 

• Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, and international standards related to baggage handling and airport systems 

•  Provide technical leadership and support to the Project Manager and multidisciplinary teams, contributing to the delivery of complex rail and airport-integrated systems 

 

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Relevant Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or equivalent) from a recognized University 

• Minimum 10 years of experience in BHS, airport systems, and/or rail projects in Dubai, the GCC, and/or internationally 

• Extensive knowledge and demonstrable experience in Baggage Handling Systems design, planning, and integration for large-scale infrastructure or airport-related projects 

• Certification or membership of a recognized and relevant professional institute or association is an advantage 

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

• Relevant expertise in airport integration, passenger and baggage planning, and coordination with rail or transportation systems 

• Strong understanding of integration between BHS and other systems including station layouts, passenger flow systems, and operational processes 

• Experience in high-capacity passenger environments and complex logistics systems, including coordination with airport terminal operations, is highly desirable 

• Familiarity with international standards and best practices for BHS design, safety, and operations 

• Demonstrable communication and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and engage effectively with stakeholders 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to identify risks and develop practical solutions 

• Ability to operate effectively in complex, fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments and support delivery across all project stages
